Why we need to do away with Gangster Rap

It's very little to do with the music itself. The only truly bad thing about the music that goes beyond personal taste is the racism, which is not inherent to the music, just the so-called musicians. A visible percentage of rap is vulgar racist ****. If it is such a bad thing to use the "N" word in speech, how he **** did it become acceptable to release songs where said profanity is used in every verse?

But more pressing, is the two impacts rap music have on their listeners. The first is the unexplainable urge to crank the music so loud that everyone around you within a quarter-mile can hear your stereo. Nobody wants to hear your **** music, but you force it down our throats and strive to make everyone deaf. It is noise pollution, harassment, and down right ****ing RUDE. If someone were to crank a different form of music, say classical, these rap-lovers would cause such a stink about it. And yet if you ask them to turn down their cacophony of bass beats and vulgarity, they get all up in your face "I can do this **** as loud as I want dawg so get your cracker *** outta my face before I bust a cap in it nigga!" or such.

The second bad impact of rap is the attitude of the listener base. I'm not saying ALL rap-lovers are this way, but a noticeable portion of rap fans act all gangsta/ghetto wherever they go, being punk hooligans to everyone around them, and just generally give an antisocial atmosphere to wherever they go.

So if anyone says that isn't reason enough to get rid of it, then they're saying gang behavior, public nuisance, and racism are all ok.

I am a manager of a place where a lot of people like this come. And I have a specific scenario in mind of something like this happening.

The kids around my work are from the ages of 6-18. (I am the manager of a coffee/ice cream shop btw.) But yea, so all the kids are hooligans because it is located in a bad spot of town. They, Lie, Cheat, Steal and think they are gangster. They throw rocks at each other and cuss all day and repeat gangsta rap lyrics to each other.

One certain scenario arose where I got to work, and in the stage area where we have live entertainment, a kid had his bike in there. I told him kindly, "you can't have your bike in here." He then proceeded to say, "I'm gangsta." And I blew up on him. I said, "you're no ****ing gangster. Get your ****ing bike out of here you stupid piece of ****." And he started mumbling under his breath. So I said, "Whats that? Huh? Got something to say?" He called me a punk-bitch and kept mumbling. So I got right in his face and said, "if you've got something to say, say it to my face. Because you can see that I'm certainly not afraid to." So he said **** this and left.

And it's all a result of his home life and the music he listens to.

Half the features you have identified in hiphop fans are by no means exclusive to that particular music fan base. Punks, metalheads, annoying indie "nu-rave" kids, house music fans, heavy metal dads etc are all just as rude and intrusive. And you can hardley blame crime etc on hiphop music, unless of course your a conservative mother.

Gangster rap was born out of the environment, it's not the cause. Thugs were being jerks well before gangster rap came into popularity.

Well given my place of employment I have to deal with this as much as anybody. I do get sick of the general attitude of most of the people who listen to this music and dress the corresponding way. It's ignorant and unnecessary.

A lot of it is born out of jail culture though, where you can't look soft in front of anybody or you will be labeled that way for life and end up (no joke) someone's b*tch.

I listen to "Gangsta Rap" every now and then and I don't really feel it has instilled a set of values, changed my disposition, or altered my general outlook on life.
