it's okay
foxytunes doesn't work for it though, so idk
this genius feature is super suspicious and 1984 esque. i keep trying to open the "what's new" page on the apple web site and it keeps crashing.
COINCIDENCE?
oooh, new visualizers.

It has a new way of viewing your library which is neat, though I still prefer the cover flow view.
Genius is funny. It doesn't know jack about music. It's like "oh you like rock music, here's some more rock music you'll like!"
Oh and I'm freakin pumped that Battlestar Galactica and other NBC Universal stuff is back on iTunes. I'm buying season 3 of BsG as soon as I get some cash!
haha i figured genius would be like that since that's what the itunes store recommends is like

user* yeah
i'm not really impressed with the genius sidebar. i thought it'd recommend albums/songs that are similar to the one selected but it's actually just songs that i don't have from the same artist.
Dimmu Burger
09-09-2008, 09:21 PM
That and stuff that is vaguely similar. That's what it did for me.
genius is turning out to be pretty okay. i've been making playlists all day and listening to them. here's one that it based off of grace by jeff buckley

genius is alright, somewhat useless to me though. i really like the new cover art browser though. i think it's going to be my new default method of browsing music.
Czech Yourself
09-10-2008, 01:33 PM
I've always been using the basic list view.
I use Pandora, or Last.fm or my friends to tell me what artists are similar.
I also have stolen most of my music as well so I don't want apple to be like omg l33t h4x

Though its not worth getting iTunes 8 just for Genius because, like the media, it is retarded when it comes to music.

You need to put it in yourself because letting iTunes do it wont stick the art to the files.

I have a process all my music goes through before an audio program even touches it including getting art so that's not a problem.

True, but I like having it there to glance at once in awhile, its just neat for me.

Yeah I always fix the tags before I listen or put it on my iPod. Mainly I have to get album art and fix the genre.

iTunes worked great for slapping artwork on most of my albums and it carried over to my iPod just fine but there are about a dozen albums i need to manually add the cover art for
i don't understand how iTunes couldn't acquire album art for my tool albums
niobium
09-12-2008, 08:35 AM

Its ok, I have a 160 gig iPod, so I have space.
Problem now is a lot of the artwork isn't showing up anymore. I'm debating restoring it and putting everything back on it, but I worry about doing that cause if my hard drive fails then I lose everything. I might just take it back to best buy and have them replace it, lol.

I like it especially the new feature of the music library
Dimmu Burger
09-13-2008, 10:11 AM
The new view is neat, but I listen to my stuff with my iPod plugged into the computer so I can't use the new view. I can't fit all of my music on my computer, I have to use the external hard drive, which I don't have plugged into my laptop. Gay!

how the **** do i remove those ugly arrows that send me to the itunes music store when i push them?
i don't like this as much as last one. with artwork showing the lines separating albums need to be thicker.

09-14-2008, 04:27 PM
ive been wondering the same thing because i remember in the older version of itunes there was an option to not have the arrows.
it feels like itunes8.0 takes a little bit longer to start up

select the album -> right click -> get info
add a space to the end of the album name, click done
repeat and remove the space

yeah thats what i have to do in order to fix the albums that are split up. its dumb that you have to do that.
im guessing they took away the option to remove the arrows so that possibly more people would go to the intunes store. which annoys me since i never use their store unless i have some free songs
