abstinence only education supporter
We deserve everything we get if those two are elected.

That is your right to vote for whomever you choose. I am voting for McCain so far, because I don't trust Obama. He has done nothing in the Senate, nothing for Chicago or Illinois , and I should know, I lived in his district for 10 years, and what makes you think he can solve all the countries problems by proposing a trillion dollars in new funding? When is the money going to come from?
Obama is hardly the solution to all of our countries ills.

It will take 8-10 years to fix all the problems in our country. For the last 2 years the do nothing democratic has called the shots, and things are progressively worse.

Hardly is a man who is so quick to aggression, who has a gross misunderstanding of diplomacy, who wants to drill for more oil, something that will not in any circumstance help anything. I have lived in Arizona for 18 years, and I haven't seen any tangible evidence of what Mccain has done, but that doesn't mean he hasn't done anything; I don't see how you can accuse Obama of doing nothing, his voting record is hardly blank.
In terms of the funding, I don't think you really understand the democratic viewpoint: the money comes from taxes (I can hear the republicans poopting bricks at that phrase), but seeing as democrats believe in social services provided by the government, that money that goes into taxes can ideally be gotten back in the form of social services.

You and I both know Hillary was bushwhacked. She was robbed. Obama was appointed , he was not elected. Now they count Michigan and Florida , but if they did in the beginning Obama would have lost. Now the dems have once again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, by nomination the weaker, and the wrong candidate. It will be a very close race, very tight, but I think McCain will eke out a victory.

Obama is a set up, the dems though they could walk all over any Republican candidate,
that's probably because the republicans have run our country into the dirt, put us trillions of dollars in debt, and destroyed the bulk of our foreign relations in the short span of 8 years
and two things happened. Mccain came back strong, and he is no Bush,
mccain openly agrees with more than a handful of bush's policies and states he intends to carry on with more of the same
and the Palin VP pick, knocked them for a loop and they are still trying to figure out how to fight back.

when bush was first elected it obviously was a rigged election unless you've somehow forgotten the mysterious vanishing votes in florida which just so happens to be the state his brother governed over
and let's not forget the thousands of black voters who were turned away at the polls because "they were closed" while white republican voters were allowed to step inside and cast their votes
the second time he was elected it was just poor voter education

At least you hope that's what is going to happen. A lot of women and democrats like McCain if you recall. He was even asked to be on a Democratic ticket in years past, so honestly, trying to say he is completely responsible for Bush's problems, and saying he is another Bush, is grasping at straws. There are many in the electorate who will vote for McCain.

um no a lot of women and democrats don't like mccain because he picked palin for his running mate and she holds a pro-life stance and is extremely counter-productive in the field of women's rights and the further we go into this election the more mccain falls back on bush's policies

New poll shows Obama losing support among young, women
Steven Thomma | McClatchy Newspapers
Barack Obama has lost ground among some of his strongest bases of support, including young people, women, Democrats and independents, according to a new ATV/Zogby poll.
The Illinois Democrat has also lost some support among African-Americans and Hispanics, where his lead over Republican John McCain has shrunk, and among Catholics, where he's lost his lead.
The net result, pollster John Zogby found, is a race that's neck and neck, with McCain supported by 42 percent; Obama by 41 percent; Libertarian Bob Barr by 2 percent; and independent Ralph Nader by 2 percent. Another 13 percent supported other candidates or were undedcided.
Zogby called the results a "notable turnaround" from a July survey he did that showed Obama leading by 46-36.
"McCain made signifciant gains at Obama's expense among some of what had been Obama's strongest demographic groups," Zogby said.
His findings:
-Among voters aged 18-29, Obama lost 16 percent and McCain gained 20. Obama still leads, 49-38;
-Among women, McCain gained 10 percentage points. Obama now leads 43-38;
-Among independents, Obama lost an 11 point lead. They're now tied;
-Among Democrats, Obama's support dropped from 83 percent to 74 percent;
-Among Catholics, Obama lost the 11 point lead he had in July and now trails McCain by 15.
Zogby said Obama also lost ground among minorities.
He attributed Obama's erosion of support to McCain's criticisms of Obama as inexperienced in the wake of Obama's trip to Europe, the Middle East, Afghanistan and Iraq and to Obama's flips on some issues

Oh come on, get your head out of the sand. Obama was Pelosi's and Reids designated pick before he even ran. They all hate the Clinton's. Obama is a set up, the dems though they could walk all over any Republican candidate, and two things happened. Mccain came back strong, and he is no Bush, and the Palin VP pick, knocked them for a loop and they are still trying to figure out how to fight back. Let's face it. Republicans fight dirty, fight hard, and know how to win elections. Dems just don't have the backbone. If it wasn't for Ralph Nader taking votes during Bill Clinton's first run, he would have lost too..

Is that first comment directed to me?
Anyone who is of age to vote yet thinks making a personal statement is more important then electing the right one of the two parties historically who have ever won an election should be thrown the **** out of this country for their stupidity.
I like a choice too. I would like to think an independant would win. They won't. Ever. Personal statements are for morons who think anyone actually cares about personal statements.

I have to disagree with you boon(about previous posts). She is voting for Paul because she doesn't trust either of the two front runners, and because of that has no reason to vote for either of them. She is a big Ron Paul supporter, and even though he obviously won't win she would still rather show support for a cause she believes in than choosing the lesser of two evils.
Edit: and I didn't really mean "just for kicks". I meant it in that she knows he won't win,, but shes voting for him anyway because he's the person she supports.
That makes sense. I tend to look at it more immediately and pragmatically: I really don't want McCain to win, and the only other candidate with the good possibility of beating him is Obama, so I gotta throw my vote to Obama, just because I don't want to see this country run into the ground by McCain.

I don't like McCain either, but I feel like Obama is full of ****, and he openly supports a lot of things I'm really against. So I have two guys I don't trust and who support things I hate. Lose lose for me either way.
I don't care if Obama wins so long as McCain doesn't.
This
I'm not pro Obama in particular (I just like the idea of a black president) but McCain/Palin is Satan so my choice is made up

I'm sorry, but the whole "I like the idea of a black president" makes me sick. How racist can you be?

Yeah I guess you know your own lady better then my assumption based on a statement made for kicks.
I'm just really nutty and truly frightened about this election.
It is pretty frightening, I'm not sure how I would react if McCain wins. So far I think I might just run into the street screaming and then buy an airplane ticket to Stockholm, but you can never know.

I can't even convince my wife to not vote for McCain. She is voting for McCain because her father is a die hard republican and her father tells her how to vote and she does whatever he tells her to do.
It makes me crazy.

Well, if McCain wins it helps my pockets but hurts everyone elses.
It's time we voted with the best interests of everyone in mind as opposed to being selfish pricks.
I am honestly a registered republican but this is not what I signed up for. I was a slefish prick most of my legal to vote life but I've had enough. I am tired of everyone having to struggle which brings down the overall quality of lives which in turn effects my life indirectly but it does.
People need to wake the **** up.

Beat him up.
No he's frail and he is also a Supreme Court Justice and either I kill him or divorce his daugther and neither is really an option. I aint going to jail for kicking the crap out of a 70 year old man who I truly love as a father figure and an inspiration to my life and the outcome of it. He's been there for me always. It's a tough thing.

Wake up? To what? There has always been poverty. People are not created equally, and sucky though it is everyone has to live in their place. I have to say I'm totally unsympathetic to anyone's plight financially or otherwise. Does that make me a jerk? No.

This is textbook jerk, man. People are not born into the same circumstances, true, but we have the ability to help them reach a better standard of living, so its a really dick copout to say that they 'have to live in their place.'
If you were born into a poor family, would you reject any sort of help? I don't think so. Remember, we're all human beings.

No judgement from me dude! I respect people's right to do whatever they please with no judgement or criticism.
I kinda agree with you and have said as much for many years on these forums.
But my life is set and no political party will ever change that so it matters not to me where my tax dollars go so long as they don't take more then they already do.
It's not the same for everyone. Maybe once you're all set you will have a change of heart, not that either is better or worse. It's your choice. No one can take that from you regardless of which party is in charge.

Are you saying I have some sort of responsibility to other people because we are humans?
Yes, how can you sit by as so many people suffer through substandard conditions and not wonder if there are ways that they can be helped?

Because I'm wondering how I can improve my lot in life.
It's not hard to manage the two desires, a lot of people do it. Plus, if you help someone else improve their lot in life, they might even help you with yours.

Guys learn to respect the choices even if they don't agree with yours.
I respect stevensonmat2 and his honesty and in a way he's correct. People need to learn how to help themselves before asking for a handout. I dunno. I think it's important to try both angles so this is why I am hoping with this upcoming election we give the democrats a chance to try their socialist ways upon the masses. If they fail, well, they had their chance and their 4 years and them I'm back to being a selfish prick.
Well I'm not talking about handouts at all. A lot of people are just born into situations where so many outside constraints and stresses and previous dynamics prevent them from bettering themselves so imo its pretty crazy to not try to help them out.

I think people should learn how to help themselves, too, but some people are at such a disadvantage that they need a little push to get them going. To look at these people who were born into poverty and say "oh well" is ****ed up.
