View Full Version : Bands whose songs you can't name but you love
Opeth, Tool, Dark Tranquility, Meshuggah, later Dream Theater, Pagan's Mind. A lot of prog metal, actually. The kind of music that is great in the moment but you will never find stuck in your head.
Is anyone else like this?

i have it happen to me all the time
i dont check the name of the song, and/or the song isnt named after specific lyrics in the song.
or the lyrics are indecipherable anyway.

I'm pretty awful with song titles to be honest.

i can always get usually who it is, or who it closely resembles or something but there are a lot of song titles that run into one another

ive never had trouble telling who the band is, its just which track is which on that particular album.
But even that fades after the 4th listen or so.

I almost never know song titles, but I guess that's something that comes with playing albums start to finish most of the time.

Same. If I went through my entire library, I could probably only name like 20 song titles without checking.

Exactly.
Whereas if I like just a couple/few songs on an album, I'll know what they're called. Also, if I bum the band I'll know their song names (i.e. Pink Floyd).

happens to me if the band/artist make songs that can be tied into their other songs. like nirvana, metallica, and neil young.

i subconsciously memorize track numbers, label, and year, along with band members in place of track titles
knowing track titles is rather unimportant

most of the time i have to look up song names, i'm pretty awful with them except the ones I really love.
I can never really remember names that aren't in English, such as moonsorrow and Sigur ros songs.

yeah I rarely remember song titles at all, so my whole library is applicable.

I have a pretty good memory of track names and numbers so I don't forget them too often, but when I do its usually the longer black metal/death metal ones, or if I've been drinking...
