Hi, I'm new to Thrash Metal and really enjoy Slayer's Reign In Blood. Therefore I'm politely asking for your recommendations on similar artists or even your favourite artists, provided they be in the same genre (I'll also accept Speed Metal and Power Metal). Thanks!

Cheers,

Hi Silverfang!

I would recommend to you Judas Priest's Painkiller as a good example of a fast and heavy album akin to Reign In Blood. In addition, you might enjoy Agent Steel - Unstoppable Force, Hobb's Angel Of Death's Self-titled, Testament's The Legacy, Kreator - Pleasure To Kill, Dekapitator - We Will Destroy, You Will Obey, Sodom - Agent Orange and Riot - Thundersteel.

I still don't get why people like that album so much. It's fun but SOO repetitive...I feel like every track is at the same tempo in the same key.

All metal is in the key of E or D or A or G. If it's not then it's not metal.

Sepultura - Beneath the Remains

Seems like the next step up after Slayer.

De Lirium's Order - Diagnosis.
Best damn (primarily) thrash album I've ever heard.

How dare you compare Pain Killer to Slayer!!!

Although it is a much better path to go with than bands like Slayer.

If you're looking at some Power Metal, I'd recommend some stuff by Dream Evil and Dragonforce. If you're looking for something a little more 'fun', then give Alestorm a go, they mix power metal with pirate theme music, its good stuff.
Of course, most obvious Power Metal band is Iron Maiden.
