I searched the forums and didn't see a thread for this game. Has anyone tried the demo off of XBL or PSN? This game is probably one of the most ridiculously fun games I've ever tried. Nothing cooler than picking up a tie fighter and hurling it at some stormtroopers or imbuing your lightsaber with lightning.

It's pretty meh.
There's an old game that did the telekenesis WAY better, I just forget what it was called.
It looks repetitively awesome. Although holding a guy in the air, throwing my lightsaber into him then moving him infront of tie fighters flying at full speed is the best thing ever.

I'm pretty excited to see what this game has in store...I'm hoping for some epic lightsaber duels with some jedi masters.
Althought I will agree that the force throw doesn't work as smooth as I wanted it to. It seems like sometimes it works great, then other times I try it and I just end up dropping the guy in the same spot.

Has anyone that has played Force Unleashed ever play Jedi Academy? Is there any difference?

Ya, I've played Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast.
It doesn't really operate like an FPS like as do the aforementioned titles, it plays more like an action game such as God of War.
It's pretty meh.

Psiops? Edit: Oh ****, someone beat me to it :(
I haven't tried the demo for this. My internet gets tied up with other things :p. It looks fun, and the tech demos I've seen have a ton of potential.
The only review currently in existence has it as only 7.5, though. What a shame.
wtf do people release poopty games for. Even if you can make money from an only decent game, just get a reviewer in, take his criticism, and then improve the game. You'll make more money from a better game.

well companies got to release a certain number of games each quarter, so sometimes when it has to be released..it has to be released, just get all the bugs out the way and release it.

Jedi Academy had some pretty good powers to mess around with, but i didn't really like how it was a FPS. i think star wars games work better not being a FPS, so this one sounds pretty good, might check it out.

jedi academy was amazing
it allowed you to also use dual sabers or a staff saber , as well as strong, medium, fast single saber styles
i played that game so much online....
from what i played, tfu seems to have very repetative saber play, your really just in it for the force powers.

Man, you need to stop reading reviews. You do realize that a large amount of well-known review sites/magazines are paid to write good reviews for certain games, right? A lot of games that have gotten bad reviews are really really good games. Not really to the extent of how stupid Music reviews are, but game reviews should only be glanced upon.

Bump.
Anyone play this yet? The reviews coming out have it around 7.5, but say it's great fun. The downsides to the game include it's length (short, about 10 hours) and the enviroments, while each one initially looks spectactular, use some of the same designs over and over.

I bought this game when we had the midnight release.
It is a ton of fun, and the story is excellent. One thing I can't stand though is the targeting. It's not too bad, but there are times when you hit a force power intending to hit something, and you end up hitting the thing next to him since there are so many usuable things in the environment. Another thing, is the battles get really annoying, it seems like your fighting a rancor and a million other guys are there and take you down really fast.
Other than that, I'm having a great time with the game and intend on beating it on all the difficulties.

I'd buy it if I had the money, but I'm stuck with the demo for now.

I'm getting it this weekend, but they already I think announced they are making The Force Unleashed 2, so hopefully they'll straighten all this out.

I just bought this game -- haven't played it yet.
However, it came with a free t-shirt -- pure, sickness.

10 hours is more than long enough for me. I won't get this right away since there are tons of games i'm playing at the moment, but i'll have it by the end of the year for sure.

what are they paid off to write bad reviews as well

Meaning you shouldn't trust everything you read
Hell I remember in PSM not too long ago they rated the original Disgea one of the most underrated games on PS2 after giving it a 7. And all they had to say was "oops, guess we were too hard on this game..."

but it doesnt follow that you should mistrust bad reviews, just the good ones, if they're getting paid to write good ones

Honestly, game reviews are probably the most reliable out there. "paying off" isn't really what people assume it is.

yeh that's what i thought
i know famitsu do courtesy reviews and all that but hell they only do that with fanboy saturated franchises so why do we care about the review? we already know what we're gonna get
Turkish

I definitely agree that game reviews are a good source of information when buying a game. I mean, Game Informer gave it a 8.75 out of 10 which is pretty good review.
I guess what I really mean is that this game has a lot of hype around it. And it probably didn't live up to everyones expectations. But at it's core...it's still a good game. The story is riveting, the characters are well written and well acted. And I'm sorry, but charging up a ball of energy and send it careening down a hallway and watching everything fly back is just plain badass.

Yeah I don't stock much in reviews.
OMG HALO AND GTA 10/10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For example I loved Jericho, and Gamespot only gave it like a 6.5.

Well I went back through and played the demo, and I have some gripes like you can't move while blocking (how many times have you seen a Jedi sprinting around deflecting blaster shots? They do it) and the targeting for the force grip is a bit off. Other than that it as fun as ****. I'll probably wait for this to drop to like $30 bucks or something.

I rented this game a couple weeks ago and went through it pretty quickly. I had a fun time with it. Nothing beats the starting level with Vader though.
