First a faux-Ritter, now a faux-CT?
Make your own design and stick with it. And then charge less.

Ha maybe if that 2 wasent in front of the 500. That seems a little crazy.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised JC even has the gall to try and sell his bass here after we ran him out before.

That CT-copy was actually a build for a friend of his that wanted a CT-copy. His friend ended up backing out last-minute.
And I still love my 8-string. Superb build quality.

Looks great in the ebay pictures, but 2500?!?! Dude you can't charge that much when nobody knows who you are. How many basses have you even made that you would consider selling as a JC bass? Three? Four?

looks sick but i think you screwed up and used guitar hardware/pickups, its only supposed to have 4 strings dude.

Those were design choices by other people than myself.

This seems a little crazy since the hardware/electronics/wood alone cost around $1000.

Thank you Joe, you at least know what you are talking about.

Well you can buy it for $2000, not $2500. I consider all my basses "JC Basses"

If it was 1500, a four string, and a jazz copy body style with fender copy headstock you'd have a deal. I love that "rainbow" body top though I'd probably want a different combo of woods. I really like the red and white (which I guessing are mahogany and maple), but not the walnut or whatever that other wood is. I'd prefer a yellowish wood instead, and little ebony stripes too.

That's the thing, a 4 string is cheaper to make. So the price I would charge would be close to that number. The red is padauk and the white is maple, the brown one is walnut. Thanks for not insulting me, I truly appreciate it.

I think it's because UPS raped one of his basses and it showed up all sh*tty. Or he made a crappy bass, I can't remember.

Not like it matters, but most people don't know that Les Claypool's Rainbow bass cost around $10K. Even still, I don't know if people would be willing to spend that much money ($2500).
It's a very nice looking bass though.

First of all why would you copy someone else's design
and what kind of poser wants an exact copy of Les Claypool's bass anyway?
There are too many things wrong with this picture

I can't tell if that was serious or not, because Les has a couple 4-string CTs that look similar, but no, JC made it right. Le's "Rainbow Bass" has 6 strings.
If it wasn't serious, lol @ basses having more than 4 strings. 5 str1ngz? Get a guitar j00 nobs and stop compenstating.

Ha, fair enough.
But the difference is that no matter how much my music sucks, I'm not trying to weasel $2500 out of people for it. :)

That's a nice bass, but I have a few quick questions. You mentioned you put roundwounds because they wouldn't wear down the ebony fretboard, but don't roundwounds actually eat the fretboard? Did you mean flatwounds, or is ebony a hard enough wood that roundwounds wouldn't affect it?

Yeah... that's because music as a good (or a service for that matter) does not equate to anything approaching $2500. That's just unreasonable

Nice, you have done a good job of getting the same look as the Rainbow but selling online for over $2k when you haven't built up much of a rep could be very tricky if not impossible.
Good luck though, shame the person who commissioned it backed out.

Yeah, ebony is a hard enough to stand the roundwounds. Les Claypool's rainbow bass obviously also has ebony fingerboard as well as roundwound strings on it. If I am not mistaken Les uses either Dean Markley or Carl Thompson roundwounds.

My musician has an ebony fingerboard coated with some rough as nuts marine epoxy. I still use flats, I like them.

I like the feel of flats also, and flats were the only strings that have ever made my MIM Jazz NOT sound like sh*t.
