Best of 2008 statistical weighting

is there some kind of formula that could be applied to compensate for weighted voting results, or sort of a way of balancing out favoritism? I realize that you reserve 5.0 classic for only 10% of the records, but it seems that the 2008 best of album list is a little bit off the pulse of new music for 2008

But yes, I believe weighing is being looked into but it's been an ongoing thing.
