Yea Manny but Warhammer is casual to the max. No raiding and no grind. It's nothing to lose your social life over.

That's what was so more appealing about WoW but they made 4 hour 40 man raids anyway and pvp sucked as did the stupid ranking and honor grinds. Planetside remains my all time favorite MMO and Warhammer reminds me of it. Jump in at your leisure and play for as long as you want. Loot isn't about who plays longer wins.

I always fought for the glory of the Vanu on Markov. I never forum'd up that place but there is still a fight to be had if my peoples can be believed.

They had some free play offer a few months back. I dunno but it might still be totally free. If that's the case then it can't be that good anymore.

I'm so glad with they way they're doing spells. You buy new ones and they increase in power as you level up. None of that "Buy fireball rank 20" crap.

ironbreaker - looks like a warrior who loses his rage when he changes targets could be gimp but anything that behaves like rage is still an op mechanic

engineer - ranged damage that has to be in medium range?? definitely gimp

runepriest - prolly gimp without direct heals to back up the shields although the description makes it seem like theyre hard to kill to the point where youd rather just kill their healing target which is more my style

witch hunter: rogue with a religious gimmick basically quick, light swords that theyll prolly dual wield, can use a gun but they use it badly so they prefer swords, "anointing weapons", 'accusations' seems like combo points to me. alludes to them being sneaky but doesnt say whether theyre actually invisible or not. if not i predict complete gimpness if yes i might buy the game just to try this class out.

bright wizard: fire mage, boring. useless if they cant invis. interesting that they build up 'combustion' levels that will damage them if they get to high, but that doesnt make them less gimp

warrior priest: will obviously be gimp. ret pallies and the ppl who play them will never understand

swordmaster: plate + hander = will dominate with pocket healer, kinda crap without

white lion: lol its an eq beastmaster. probably the gimpest of any ive seen so far just judging by these little blurbs

shadow warrior: if this guy can invis i think im in love. if he cant then wtf is he called 'shadow' warrior for

archmage: i dont like playing the no-armor + huge heals kinda healer. also the whole thing about having to weave in destructive magic or w/e is prolly more trouble than it's worth

i liked fighting pvp raids because i thought it was fun idk after most molten core raids my wow guild had like half the raid would go attack org just for poops and giggles

the bolster system is pretty cool. If you're under the level of a PVP zone, it bumps up your skills and stats to what you would have at the mid-level for that zone. Ex, if you were level 12 in a 11-20 zone, it bumps you up to level 16. it means you can literally start pvping from level one and never do any other stuff.

I'm so excited about this game. Finally Mythic is back in the game. WoW fanboys really make me laugh when they think WoW is the best MMORPG. I used to play Dark Age of Camelot and it was probably the best(PVP wise at least). WoW tried to make some RvR action by putting battlegrounds but they're no where near DAoC. I will be participating in the Open beta and saw my friend play the closed beta. Looks awesome. So my point is don't bother getting WoW, **** the lich king get WAR. Been 2 years since I played a MMO game...

I'm not anti-WoW but most of the people think that WoW is teh best. Funny thing is if it wasn't for other old MMOs WoW wouldn't be any good. I'm not saying that it sucks, otherwise 10 million people wouldn't play it. It probably has one of the best PVE. I used to have a 60 Mage but PVP system was ridicilous so I couldn't go on. But I'm still saying that there won't be a MMO better than DAoC.

Another thing I HATED about WoW is how mostly everything is based on franchising(This is MY opinion don't flame). When I started there were only 5 classes maybe 6 and shaman on horde/pala on ally. I mean same classes on both sides? It's really lame IMO. I mean it's not that hard to create another classes for each faction and balance them. And now they're releasing new packs with new classes. Dunno just don't like the game. Everything is so shallow. Maybe that's why so many people play it. It's really easy to adopt to the game for someone who is not familiar with MMOs.

The reason it's so big is because there's so much to it, and it's flawlessly polished. Everything just works very well. The UI, the graphics, the gameplay, character progression, etc. It's fine to not like it, but you can't deny how important it is to the gaming industry.

actually it is really hard to have different classes that are all actually 'balanced' no game has ever done it this warhammer game certainly wont be an acception but that doesnt mean it cant be fun anyway

Dude I was just looking at Marauder Morale abilities and they look really really OP, morale must take a while to get.

The Rune Priest's abilities have long cooldowns because a lot of them are HoTs, and are really powerful.

Well that's a little much to call it a sequel, the Warhammer universe is a lot different. It's going to have similar gameplay mechanics and everything though, so I know what you're getting at.

Also, 60 minute cooldown on Morale abilities make sense since they are ridiculous. They're more like oh sh‪it buttons than anything else at this point.

I assume that it could be one of two things: A shared cooldown for all the morale talents, or one for each morale rank (1, 2, 3, and 4).

Graphics really shouldn't be the selling point of an MMO game because when it comes down to it, content>shiny looks.

That being said, I think the graphics look awesome, look a tad more realistic than wow (which after 4 years of playing I'm WAY to used too) and not as cheesy real as games like Vanguard or EQII.

As long as the pvp stays in this RvR style, I think this game is going to be awesome. As soon as they stride for an e-sport acceptance is when game balancing and **** like that becomes haywire. WoW pvp will probably never be the same again since they introduced arena pvp.

So what's everyone's major sway in this thread, is everyone mostly going Destruction?

hey, when you go to open the game, and the mythic patcher comes up, and you try to log in, does it not work for you? My freind says it doesn't work yet until the beta is officially open.

hey, when you go to open the game, and the mythic patcher comes up, and you try to log in, does it not work for you? My freind says it doesn't work yet until the beta is officially open.

It's one minute. And it's not like stealth in other games really. The class doesn't exactly rely on stealth, and I'm sure if you spec into the stealth tree, the cooldown for it will go down.

I dunno it's usually the same with all games, the health-to-damage ratio of classes i usually similar across MMOs

I just gave a wild guess, yeah it's probably less than that.



I haven't heard much about the Zealot, if I was to make a healing class it'd probably be Shaman.

well not really that similar seeing as eq 1v1 nonhealer fights could take several minutes vanilla wow fights often took less than 10 seconds and vanilla guild wars and wow tbc take 10-30 secs

If you'd read anything about it then you'd know they cut things for the right reasons and it's not going to affect the game.

The balancing is fine right now and will be tweaked easily. From what i've heard from people I know, a well organized team of the worst classes can easily take on a not so organized team of the best classes.

:amaze:Broad statements such as 'in mmo history' hold no water. If you're speaking technically, then you should know I wasn't. I'm not worried about outages or queues; I expect those and accept them. I was talking about terrible impressions about the tedious combat pace, clunky movements, etc...
Furthermore, I was talking about it in light of the paramount positive feedback that AoC received that warhammer seems to be lacking.

I was reading the fan reviews on the boards and most were average. I did not read one reviewer that was blown away. Again, I don't think the game will be terrible, but I do think there is a good chance it will fizzle. With that said, I would not be surprised if it succeeded as well.

I seem to see a lot of hype regarding this game. Dark Age of Camelot was a very different MMO when it came out, so I like the chances of WAR. Funcom, who made AoC, had Anarchy Online under it's belt, and that was a failure in it's own right. Not a MASSIVE failure per se, but still pretty bad.

And also lol @ the WoW comment. Seriously dude, it's the most successful MMORPG ever made. You can't say it's bad by any stretch of the imagination.

No other game has done its job as well, but others have tried and failed. The MMO genre is not one open to a lot of innovation. Again I point you to AoC because it really did try to revolutionize the genre and it ended up being way too cluttered.

I really am not trying to sound like a WoW Fanboy, but I also do not want to jump the 'WoW is teh sux bcuz meny ppl playz it.'

It's a tad unfair to compare a game that is in it's last stages of beta testing to a game thats been out and ruling the market for the past 4 years.

From what I've been gathering if you want to raid...play wow. If you want to pvp, play war.

I really don't care if there are same elements in WAR that are in WoW or vice versa. The fact of the matter is, WoW is a stale game that has done nothing but recycle it's gameplay over the past 2 years. They've botched PVP by making it an e-sport and dumbed down the gameplay to the point of easymode for casual players. Warhammer looks refreshing, and is re-introducing what looks to be an awesome pvp mode (RvR).

I really don't feel like re-activating wow just to level up to 80, do heroics for badge gear, grind rep for 10 different necessary factions and ultimately being doing the same thing I have been for the past 2 years.

I think WoW was a great game, but at this point has just become stale bread. This thread is about Warhammer, let's keep it that way.

Same here, I've always played a caster as my main...from Diablo II, to FFXI to WoW...but the melee classes in the game look so fun =\

Although, Brightwizard looks pretty cool too. I also heard that Zealots are pretty OP as are Shamans.

As a friend was explaining Shaman to me, he said that they make a balance between the Greenskin Gods Mork and Gork (aka Heals and Dmg). From what I understood, the more you heal the more dmg your dmg spells do and vice versa. But I could be wrong, as I myself haven't read much on them.

Disciple of Khaine looks sweet. They look to be like a fun support/dmg class. They don't do much dmg, but they have AoE heals for other players.

I'm going to try to play as many classes as possible this upcoming preview weekend. Marauder first, then probably Black Orc and Shaman, and Squig Herder. Those are my favorite from each type.

And to be perfectly honest, there's two main reasons why I want to play this so bad. I'm sick of WoW. I've been in the endgame for a while and I'm pretty sick of it all. PvP was kind of killed with AV Premades for me.

Also, I hate jumping into MMOs a while after they're out. I want to be part of this game from the beginning, assuming I like it from the beta.

ppl who either go to tourneys/any money competition or think it would be a good idea to go a tourney or try to play like the ppl who go to tourneys and especially ppl who try to organize tourneys or push the game in that direction

devs like these ppl because there's a ton of visibility associated with saying something like $250,000 vidya game tournament! with a $50,000 grand prize or something because it attracts millions of mouthbreathers who see that and think 'ya one day im gonna play wow for a living' when really no they arent

but it order to attract these people you have to make the changes they want to the game and the casual player and non e-sport elements of the game often get forgotten
