Should mods be required to put reason for ban?

If the user is posting for the sole purpose of advertising, there is little point to leave a ban reason, although I usually do. If the user has spammed loads I think they will know why they have been banned.

More often that not I leave a ban message, but like I said before, if the user know he/she has done wrong I may not leave a reason.

If it's an annoying user, I don't leave a real message. If it's someone that slipped up, I do.

the biggest reason people complain about their bans is because they claim not to know why it was incurred

sometimes people are stupid enough that they really don't realize they did something wrong so by putting a reason for the ban in the message that eliminates any reason for them to question it

that used to be required. It now shows accountability and lets the mods think before they unnecessarily use the ban hammer.

They should also leave real reasons.

I think caring about bans when you can easily make an alt and continue posting is stupid. So reasons are pretty pointless in that respect
