cause he really sucks at holding his pick

I don't know who Al Truistic is, but he is one lucky sonofabitch.

Mine is between my thumb and my index finger. On my index, it's on the top segment and between the pad and the side of the finger. Pick sticks out far enough past the finger to be able to hit the strings with it but not my finger. Great control like that. Good luck with the technique, dude. :thumb:
Lol.

right, because I had to adapt a homosexual, illiterate persona (potentially with a southern drawl) to be able to pull that off, and instead of going 'wtf is he talking about?' you went there with me. good stuff.

mine goes in between the side of my index finger, which is curled around, and the thumb. win pick holding position imo.

My thumb stays pretty straight while my index curls a bit. Not a full curl, but about a 2/3 curl.

I can hardly finger pick. Most of my playing is done on an acoustic, but still with a pick. Electric is for actually practicing with the band and recording and playing live, acoustic is for everything else.
wait you make music?
well...i haven't figured out what that is exactly...but i'lll keep you guys updated.
ok so i've decided to grow out my pinky nail.
that way, i can do coke-bumps to stay awake longer while i try to figure out how to use a pick.

Just extend your thumb straight and backwards, you'll create a natural groove on the back of your hand between the base of your thumb to your wrist. Much more efficient.
I can see why this thread was created for you.

i'm into classical acoustic guitar
i play pretty frequently, but it's all just goofing around. most i've ever done with it is put acoustic guitar into the mix on the radium track "unravel."
i enjoy playing along to opeth songs, too. big fan of their riffing. could care less about the band, but good riffs.

yeah but it doesn't matter anyways cause you'll never make a new song

Ah, good stuff. I'll probably get more into finger picking (for whatever purpose) at some point in the future, but right now I'm really trying to get my picking hand up to the level of my fretting hand. They're pretty uneven because of my bass playing. I never used a pick while playing bass, but my fretting hand got years of practice on it.

IT'S BIG AND SWOLLEN LOL. :thumb:

Is it possible that your poor technique comes from the fact that you didn't know you were lefty all along?
Stranger things have happened.

Yes.
That's how cool people pick.
Now really cool people like me use thumbpicks, but I actually hold my hand the exact same way with one as as with a normal pick.

I fingerpick all the time. I play almost exclusively acoustic.
But I use a thumbpick on electric so that I can use my other fingers.
Plus, on steel string a thumbpick gives you stronger bass notes, which balances with the high notes better.
