for example, i wanna hear Low rock out... hard and loud, shouting and pounding drums.. i think that would sound so good. the closest they get to that is on Great Destroyer i think, and it sounds like itd be great

^^^ yea i know what you mean. since then, all of the energy they had when they'd play heavy is expressed as tension, like potential energy in short clips of feedback or a heavy distorted chord progression in a rhythm-less bridge or something, but it never really explodes anymore i wanna hear it explode

the devil, you + me is straight flaccid. they've adopted some (what sounds like) folk and singer standards influences, which is an interesting approach but doesn't work without the energy. the songs have become tired but they still maintain most of the neon golden sound so i'm reluctant to write the new album off as a failure. it is enjoyable if you're not overly critical of it.

Yeah man. They all have so much talent pouring out of them and I wanna see it used like it should be. They use to have such a discreet and diverse sound but know they are starting to sound like everyone else but the music is still decent.
