View Full Version : Listening Party Requests v.2.0

1) Have a picture
2) Have at least 2 working [full] mp3s [on sputnik]
3) Are underground or lesser known bands (for exposure reasons, and the fact that they often put free mp3s over the internet).

Stop requesting artists that don't have any MP3s on their page!

just wondering, would 3rd party sites be like myspace and last.fm?

Angmar

I would like to suggest Raison d'Etre for the other listening party although all of the audios up on his page except "Reflecting In Shadows" are dead but if the others are deleted I will put up 3 more songs that are active, the group is ambient but is under other because there is no ambient sub-genre.

I know, I posted this in the other thread, but just in case you didn't recognize it or whatever, since it's in the old thread, here's my request again, with MP3s. Sorry if you already got it.

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/band/Unwound

I personally see them as post-hardcore, so yeah. I guess they could work as Noise Rock if you reeeeeally wanted.

And for the Off Minor request, I'm looking for more legit mp3s, but I doubt I'll find any others. "Cadaveric" was the only one on their site.

I've asked before but Murcof would be a nice other/electronica listening party. There's a picture, mp3's, and i'd say its not a stretch to call him lesser known.

Jom

Murcof can come next after that French guy.

I would like to request a band called "The Blue Letter" i'm currently trying to find mp3 links to put up on here.

They do have a myspace (www.myspace.com/theblueletter) with mp3's,
but I really haven't a clue how to put them up.

Great band though.

Foetus for industrial.

http://i37.tinypic.com/144396b.jpg

Foetus is the primary musical outlet of industrial music pioneer J. G. Thirlwell. Until 1995 the band underwent various name changes, all including the word foetus. Monikers adopted at different times include Foetus Under Glass, You've Got Foetus On Your Breath and Scraping Foetus Off The Wheel. After 1995 the name permanently became Foetus, though the related project The Foetus Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1997 and continues.

Thirlwell acts as the sole instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter and producer for all Foetus works and as such is the only member of the band. Other artists may occasionally collaborate with Thirlwell on Foetus works but are not considered members of Foetus. Thirlwell is solely responsible for the musical output of the band.

Can the Steinski listening party get featured on the front page next?

The listening parties are all randomly automated on the main page, but only from the big four: metal, rock, alt/indie, and punk. There isn't enough interest in integrating pop or hip-hop into the algorithm, and it will likely remain that way.

Electric City
08-31-2008, 12:34 PM
I remember SOP did something with the Flashbulb where he temporarily moved the genre to Alt/Indie to get it some time on the frontpage. Since Steinski is one of the year's more critically acclaimed releases but has gotten criminally little attention from the sputnik base, could a similar action be executed here? I'm sure it would get more attention in the alt/indie section than The Verve are getting right now.

Jom
08-31-2008, 01:42 PM
Yes, it can. We'll adjust for the middle of next week unless Dave does it earlier.

I decided to save it for next week since nobody is going to request anything for then anyway. Luckily, this week there was a new album out I could put up an LP for. But yeah basically you are one of about two people who ever put in the work for this so I need to save parties up sometimes.

Goldfinger listening party maybe?

Their new album (not so new anymore) was pretty *** kicking, and the 2 mp3's are from that album which is the one that needs a bit of recognition.

Can I request Australian melodic death metal band Vespers Descent?

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/bands.php?bandid=10902

I've put up two mp3s, one from each of their releases. Their latest release has been reviewed and I'm going to get their older album done once I pick it up.

Benoit Pioulard for Other, please. His new album Temper just came out on the 14th and also recently (past couple of months or so) put out a 7" Lee. I just put up one track from each of those as well as a few from older albums Pecis and Fir. He has more links to other tracks on his site but I thought there were already enough I guess.
