My favorite is probably for The Fountain, composed by Clint Mansell for Kronos Quartet and Mogwai.

I haven't seen City Of Lost Children but I appreciate the mention. Eraserhead has a brilliant soundtrack, most any Lynch movie has a deep synthesis of visuals and ambient sound, breathing together in harmony. 2001 A Space Odyssey. That theme in Great Expectations makes my mind melt. Plenty of movies good or bad have some passing OST goodness.

I think it's great, it's really appropriate for the time period; its set in 86 so...

Donnie Darko itself is little more than a huge new cult movie. Nothing about it is particularly significant except for the fact that it was made recently.
