Hey everyone,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be going to Lollapalooza this year as a member of the press to cover the event. But before I go, I have a few 'band A or band B' questions because the times are awfully inconvenient at times even though for most of you it won't be even close.

Explosions in the Sky or Brand New
Broken Social Scene or Battles or Lupe Fiasco
Nine Inch Nails or Kanye West

(I'd pick the first band mentioned for each of those)

Granted I may have access to every artist, but I'm not sure which ones will be easily accessible (for instance Radiohead/Trent Reznor/Rage Against the Machine). So if you want to check out the line-up here and let me know who you think would be a plausible interviewee that'd also spark interests of visitors of the site:

I have a pretty good idea of the bands I'm going to try to interview, but I'm doing this for sputnik and not my personal taste so please, I'm open to what you all have to say and please keep it serious and on topic.

cheers :chug:

it'd be cool to do it with radiohead but idk how hard it'd be

Obviously it'd be cool, but I think it'd be pretty hard along with the first two lines listed but if any of those bands want to then will exceed my expectations

Oooo first one is hard. But i'd say if you were to interview either Brand new or ETIS, I'd go with ETIS just because they're probably a little more down to earth than Brand New supposedly is.

But I would love to see a Stephen Malkmus interview if possible.

I'd definitely go with Explosions in the Sky and Nine Inch Nails (I mean, over Kanye it seems like a no brainer). I'd love Battles to be the choice for the middle there but I'm not really partial to the other two.

Battles, The National, Butch Walker, Lupe Fiasco, Brand New, Explosions, BSS, Malkmus, and obviously any of the top two lines if possible. Santogold might be good to spotlight since she's a rising artist, etc., but the first few bands I listed seem like big, "indie" names to tackle for the site in order of some sort of importance. Battles would just be an awesome interview altogether.

Far out, Lollapaloza is by far and away always has the best lineups.

Broken Social Scene put on a really intimate show, so if thats your thing, check them out (though when i saw them Feist was there and she COMPLETELY made that show for us, and I don't think shes touring with them anymore),

Battles are intense, it's wonderful seeing how they actually perform their songs live, though its very weird music to dance/mosh/rave/wahtever to.

Brand New are also a solid live act - if they manage to get the set list right. They sometimes don't know how to straddle between their poppier earlier material and their later, slightly darker stuff, though when I saw them they did it well.

May I suggest Spank Rock? F'ucking amazing live show if you can catch 'em and if Amanda Blank is performing with them as well I wouldn't miss it.

Bloc Party are hella solid as well, you really gain a new appreciation to their stuff once you see them live - I did, and I wasn't all into their stuff before I did.

John Butler Trio should put on a really really intimate cool show as well, everyone whose been to their live shows have come away with nothing but good things to say.

Rage are intense as ever after all these years and I assure you even if the energy of the show doesn't get to you, the shirtless, sweaty mosh that will go wild will.

Still need to see Radiohead =(

Definitely have to see Nine Inch Nails. Seriously, out of all the bands I've seen live, they've by far put on the best performance.

The National for accessible coolness

Stephen Malkmus is obviously a no-brainer if he's available and even though I do like Brand New idk how cool an interview with them would really be, but if you get a chance go for it and i guess that's all i really care about

Duffy and The Gutter Twins to appease me. Also Butch Walker would be good.

Actually it's kind of amusing how Gutter Twins are on the bill alongside The Whigs.
