How long does it take your heart rate to recover after exercise? As in all the way down. Mine's about 55-60bpm resting. I ran 1.5-2 miles, then lifted weights for +-45 minutes - 3+ hours later my resting is about 78bpm. Is this normal? I just started running/lifting again after a few months off, so it's not like I'm in pique shape right now. Wondering if this is about how long it should take to go back down to 55-60bpm, it's taking a few hours.

one time they had heart monitors on the hockey players and they showed how their heart rate goes back to normal in like a min. or 2 because of good conditioning
3 hours is certainly not normal if you're not in an exceptionally crap shape...maybe you're getting sick/it was a hot day/something like that?
I did a 20 km run last week and it took a couple of minutes to go back to resting rate and it was pretty fcuking hot.

give it awhile if you aren't getting any pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, you sound ok. its a bit high, yes. maybe cut back on your workout just a bit. especially since you're just getting back into it. take it slow...not real slow but u no
hey does anyone ever experience chest pains during or after workouts? or any other time? like real chest pains. heart stuff? i do and have for some time. i had a full echo cardiogram test done under exertion last year and they say i'm fine...but still i get concerned bcuz the pains persist sometimes. tightening of the chest...sometimes shortness of breath. its weird...
just thought i'd ask since other people who workout might come itt
the heart rarely ever actually hurts and if it does you're pretty much fcuked in a matter of minutes
most chest pain are caused by your stomach or tension of your chest or back muscles. look into that, maybe take notes of what and when you eat before workout.

If you don't replace the fluid you lose during exercise, your heart rate increases and your temperature rises
maybe im not drinking enough water, could have sworn i was getting enuf though

no chest pains here... maybe its something else that's giving you symptoms you could confuse with heart problems

thanks for you answers, guys. and thanks for being gracious about it in your thread, lufnoops.
i am a little worried, although my doctor has said not to and has even told me what you guys have, sort of. but he can't be certain. all looks ok, and i'm a young fit guy, but still...
so basically i guess what you guys are saying is other things / muscles might be putting a strain on the general chest area, and the heart being a muscle itself might be affected somehow with some tightening or pain / discomfort....but its not the heart itself?
sort of like if i pull or strain a muscle in my thigh and it causes a muscle in my lower leg to hurt and strain? i guess that makes sense....but still i worry. i have a lot of life ahead of me :(
anyway thanks dudes. i'll look further into this....if need be. and my back does hurt sometimes so idk maybe thats part of it
