A song I wrote this morning.
i thought about it last night and i dreamt that you were mine
something ‘bout the aftertaste of advil and cheap wine
just sets these wheels in motion and it helps me realize
that i’ve been running ‘round in circles all my life
i’ve got a job and an apartment, got a car to drive between
i wonder if there's anything as average as the american dream
all my friends are getting married, moving onward with their lives
and i guess its just a matter of time
my laundry’s littered all across the floor
my burdens and my failures in piles behind closed doors
someday you’ll realize it didn’t have to be like this
but it is
i wish i were in rome, amongst the sirens and the saints
but i wake up here in pella, wishing i were still asleep
the days are growing longer and i’m tired all the time
but i swear that you could save me if you tried
and the housewives and the farmers go about their day
while the children study hard to earn their gpa
and my father, mr businessman, collects his pay
i pour myself another glass and drink myself to sleep
i thought about it last night and i dreamt that you were mine

just sets these wheels in motion and it helps me realize
