Me and Dimmu Burger have come to the conclusion that Five Finger Death Punch is such a terrible band we should petition that they disband and all get jobs at an Unrelgulated Kazakh uranium mine(not the original Mcdonalds).

Coal mining is dangerous stuff. Even in countries with high standards of safety and personnel protection (Australia and Canada) it has a higher fatality rate than any other type of mining, uranium mining included. There's a few reasons why, but the two main ones are increased risk of structural integrity failing and the associated gases of coal reserves, especially methane (think canaries in a coal mine).

When you look at countries that rely on brute and overwhelming manpower to mine instead of technology and safe work practices (China, India, USA) these problems are all compounded and even more are introduced.

In the meantime, mining Uranium without protective gear is dangerous, yes, but I am sure even the most unregulated Kazakhi uranium mine would have gas masks, if only to increase the productivity of the mine through the lifespan of the workers (i.e. you want them alive for at least a few years).

But yeah, both are equally crappy choices, I guess. It's interesting to think of how the two most damaging forms of radiation, alpha and beta, are both stopped by your skin. Alpha radiation can be shielded with paper, even! And gamma radiation isn't the big bad boogey monster that sci-fi movies make it out to be, since at any given time thousands of gamma particles are streaming through your body.

So I guess if the threadstarter removed the part about world hunger, since that makes even less sense now that the McDonalds reference is gone, and added in Chinese coal mine as a second alternative, I would be somewhat appeased as to his appalling lack of threadmaking initiative.
