View Full Version : JFAC's descent

The EP is generally seen as influential in forming the deathcore genre. It was originally released on King of the Monsters records, but a larger record label spotted the band and signed them, and the album was re-released on their current record label, Metal Blade Records, in 2006 with a bonus track.

Genesis, was released on May 15, 2007. And it was lackluster at best, same old same boring death metal, (i said death metal, not deathcore, understand?) They completely changed a winning formula for the sake of becoming a bigger band.

MY QUESTION!
how did a band full of youthful energy, talent and musicianship in a few short years become the biggest thing in metal. And than fell flat on their faces, doing all the things metal bands do later in their careers to alienate their fan base and basically piss off everyone who ever supported them?? Drunken stage mishaps, stupid tour stories involving way too much booze. And in a recent interview Jonny Davy was complaining about all the boring down time and driving YOU'RE ON F*CKING TOUR!! suck it up you're headlining shows with bands 10 years your senior and b*tching about it the whole time!!

maybe it's just me, it seems they are just kids with a record contract who think their sh*t don't stink because they made a bunch of 16 year olds start deathcore bands and pig squeal in their garages....they don't appreciate anything it seems

Anyone else sick of hearing about how brutal they are??
Go back to Glendale and live with your parents, get a real job. Leave the music up to the professionals

what

they're a really good band that makes good music. They have more fans now than they did back with the EP. Also, they said they didn't want the deathcore sound and wanted to write death metal, so they did. Stop talking about "selling out".

They were never really very good.

did you mean descent in the title?

omgwtfboogie
05-29-2008, 01:31 AM
tl;dr

But seriously, your conclusions lost validity when you claimed JFAC was ever decent.*

*Maybe I should have typed 'descent' so that we could trade words and both of us would make sense.

just my opinion. I LOVE the EP...Genesis was garbage, redundant death metal.

It's true the EP is better, but that's not saying much.

you made that point in your first post

rasputin

yeah, it was okay at best. It wasn't so much of a descent as a shift sideways into another genre, retaining the same low quality.
However, the song from the first demo called Day in Black is really good, I've always liked that track.

i'm not saying they are god's gift to music, that's the point of it all.
Way too much exposure for a band that's not really that great

It's not like this is the first time it's ever happened, deal with it.

at the expense of amazing bands like Behemoth who have to play BEFORE these punks?

Ghoul Hustler

hahaha, Behemoth is terrible

Behemoth is almost a joke band

omgwtfboogie
05-29-2008, 01:41 AM
yeah, JFAC and Behemoth belong together for sure. the order you prefer to enjoy **** in is entirely up to you, but is largely irrelevant to a proper argument...

the only reason i brought it up is that band has been around since '93 or something working hard to make it and they get overlooked because some overnight sensation band did the right thing at the right time

I get what you mean. My honest opinion is that Behemoth > JFAC, I just don't see how this discussion is really beneficial, as it neither changes anything or helps the reader understand music better.

You thought correctly but, if you have not gathered from your thread's reception, you might as well voice your opinion to the nearest wall. It's just as constructive that way.

I can't tell people how to respond. I was simply stating the things that i thought other people felt the same way about, guess i was wrong.

Don't worry about it mate, and don't take it personally either. No-one really cares for JFAC much around here.

just my opinion. I LOVE the EP...Genesis was garbage, redundant death metal.

Someone complaing about a overnight sensation when almost every new band is making ti big doing the same thing?

Threat Signal had a record deal before they even played their first ever show because of myspace

I like JFaC. If anything, I feel their album is a little underrated. Although by no means is it anything spectacular.

I dont really know alot about 'Death Metal' or 'Deathcore' or whatever it is.

I mean the only bands like that I listen to are BDM, JFAC, Capharnaum and Necrophargist.

But in my opinion BDM > JFAC. It annoyed me how when they toured the uk JFAC were playing over BDM. But thats life.

TBQH, I don't think JFAC really had an ascent at any point. They were always bad in my book.
