View Full Version : Movies You Are Anticipating

What are some movies coming out recently or that you have on the backburner that you are looking forward to getting around to one day and actually watching? Alternatively discuss movies you have been anticipating and just watched, rate the experience.

For me recently it is Coonskin & Serpico. Coonskin because I enjoyed Fritz The Cat a lot so i'd like to see more Ralph Bakshi and the movie is described as the angriest animation ever made from some reviews I read online. Serpico because i'm reading an Al Pacino biography recently and I find him a fascinating guy and great actor in the films I have seen him in, Serpico is said to be one of his greatest roles.

Go.

See, it's tough for me because it's M. Night Shyamalan, but it's also Zooey D...:(

I'm really looking forward to The Dark Knight. I like the vision that Christopher Nolan had with Batman Begins, like making it less cartoonish and more psychological. You really can't go wrong with Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Heath Ledger, Michael Caine, etc., and I'm looking forward to seeing what Maggie Gyllenhaal and Aaron Eckhart are going to be like.

I predict that's going to be the big blockbuster of this summer.

Oh, and even though I have no idea when it's supposed to come out, but Edward Norton's adaptation of Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem should be good.

Mister Lonely - How can you not think, this is the greatest thing ever? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckzRzhQDMrk
Dark Knight - Sure, why not.
Pineapple Express - Heard from reliable sources that this might actually work, plus I want to see DGG's more comedic side.
Shotgun Stories -

The Banderas role is between him and Depp. It was written for Depp, apparently.

i would much prefer depp

banderas is fun in campy roles, but in a dark portrayal of a graphic novel any role would fit depp better than him

Sin City is campy.

Doesn't matter anyways, they haven't started working on it. Robert Rodriguez is too busy ruining Barbarella right now.

J Rad
05-21-2008, 11:54 PM
when i think of campy movies i think of movies like desperado where there is implied realism but it's completely outdone by the level of humor in the writing

sin city is a different kind of camp

I hope the happening is good.....it looks interesting. Although M. Night Shyamalan is involved with it.

I read a supposedly real review of it that included the spoilers. If it is true, then by god this movie will go down as the most hilariously bad and embarrassing films ever made.

Films I'm looking foward to.

Dark Knight.
The Road.
Blood Meridian.
Ghost in the Shell live action.
Akira live action.
Jonathan Strange.

Yeh some of them arent' exactly close to release date but whatev.

Yeah, the Happening is getting torn apart and M. Night's comments aren't helping it. He said, and I quote:

If something happens during the movie and you think, "That’s dumb," it’ll be because whatever happened was actually too amazing for you to fully understand, or possibly a metaphor for something really crazy and cool.

UmphreysHead

The Pineapple Express.

J Rad
05-22-2008, 12:26 AM
i'm holding out hope for the happening

from the trailers it at least looks decent and i'm interested to see the full scope of the script

allowing m. night to be involved in the writing and production is a gamble though

i make it a point not to base my opinions on the things posted on RT because everyone on there is a boring elitist prick

Cocaine
05-22-2008, 12:31 AM
RT forums are lame yeah. The Happening trailer reminds me of the South Park based around Katrina and Global Warming, particularly the scene where they're running away from nothing in particular.

The new ones are apparently ultra violent though.

thats why I hate him

think of it like this

if you directed a movie and it was getting slammed by critics, would you tell the public, "yeah this movie blows don't go see it i don't want your money" or would you try to defend it even if it made you sound like a tool
