Well, the debate is concluded, and its time to vote.
Please vote for whomever, in your opinion, won the debate (that is to say, this is about who presented a better supported argument, not which side you inherently agree with).

I've got to say that Der argued it a bit better, although I don't necessarily agree with him.
Sorry, no hard feelings. Both of you guys seem to hit on what I wanted you to hit on, mostly.

So anyone even read the debate?

I ran through a whole gun debate thing with Siva a week or two ago.
I skimmed and read the conclusions, tbh.
It's probably better to pick a topic that isn't so often debated here.

True true.
(assuming I win) I'll put some thorough thought into the next topic.

I did a hot button issue to gain interest for the ongoing debate series.
I asked you at least twice to set a new topic but you ignored. This isn't just my thing, you know. Post any ideas in the original thread I made.

Das won easily. Though I hate voting for him because he was so rude to me, but I have to hand it to him. He is good at what he does.

Exactly. I earn the right to be rude :)

I voted for Guitrguy because he kept up with Der even though he had the harder side of the debate to argue.

Debate is all about structure.

firstly, let me say very well done to both sides
Debate is all about structure.
true, structure is fine but topic is of equal importance for me. i just think affirmation supported by the 2nd amendment, challenged so many times over the years and still standing, is an impossible topic for the negatives to overcome.

No, not really.
Con argument:
The assault rate (per capita) in the UK and the USA is almost identical.
That is to say, the rate at which people in both nations are trying to kill each other is similar. The rate os success in the USA is much higher.
All the con needs to do is prove the increase is due to gun ownership.

the debate would have been even more interesting if you had been required to take the negative :naughty:
Ando!

personally I lean toward guitrguy on this one but Der absolutely butchered him
the "kills per gun" argument was a pretty awful statistic but guy didnt pounce on it like he ought to have

It was incredibly hard to find stats in my favor, tbh. Der Ubermensch did pwn me.
Der Übermensch

The problem is there are no stats that 100% support either side.

I voted Der but I'm a gun rights guy anyway, so I'm biased.
