I recently got and emg 81/85 set, with it came:

- 81 + quick connect
- 85 + quick connect
- Jack socket w/battery wire
- K.K. 20db boost switch + quick connect.
- 3 way toggle switch

First things first, would this wire be suitable for extending the jacksocket wires (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=9910&criteria=pickup%20wire&doy=18m5) and any of the other wires.

As i am not going to use the boost switch (the only difference between the Kerry King set and the Zakk Wylde set), its just gonna be the Zakk Wylde set, but seeing as im using a 3 way toggle, volume and tone, im guessing diagram 3 would be the right one in this http://www.emginc.com/downloads/wiringdiagrams/EMG-ZWset.pdf

If you can direct me to a more understandable diagram (not that its not understandable, just confusing) and a site that sells guitar spares down to the wires etc then it would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Note: I'm not one for taking the guitar down to local shop and getting it sorted there, i've wired a passive easily enough, just now im faced with 2 actives

That wire from maplin is far too thick, have a look on http://www.allparts.uk.com

Use diagram 3 and remember not to ground to the bridge. TBH that's about as simple as the diagram can be.

Ok, thanks for the help, but i can't find the wire on there that i need, i'll just pop into my local maplins/guitar shop tomorrow and see what they have.

Also, it says something in there about not grounding anyways, i'll re-read it.

Cheers

Found what i was looking for, all wired up and all i get is a humming noise, so i think it may be short circuiting somewhere, i'm going to investigate tomorrow (plus put a new fuse in my soldering iron lol).

Is there a certain polarity on the capacitor? because there wasn't anything stating which way round it was meant to go.
