i know that the saying "you get what you pay for " tends to hold true when it comes to cymbals. just curious if any1 has ever picked up a cheaper peice that has had great sound or at least adds a flare to the kit that would make it worth picking up.

Wuhan chinas are cheap but are probably one of the best sounding chinas on the market.

wuhans are cheap but an acquired taste.
Personally, i think the chinas and splashes sound terrible but it's all a matter of opinion.

I've played on a Dream Bliss ride and they're pretty good. They're also not as cheap as they used to be as I think they realized they had a competitive product and jacked their prices up a bit.

My Ks are nice. They're like 2002s.. but with good tone and aren't one-dimensional.
Stagg are worth a look.

picked up a B8 pro crash for 30$, greatest buy I've ever made. other then getting my kit for 280$ CAN incld shipping :p
In Australia at least, Mapex entry level kits are coming out with 'Shalimar' branded cymbals. The hats are a bit meh, but theyve now made the crash thicker, and it actually sounds pretty darn nice.

^ I like them, you can bend them inside out with your hands to make china-types. :)

to be honest, ive realized as of late that i despise the sound of wuhan chinas. they're dead and lifeless, especially as the sizes get smaller. you might argue that they're the "authentic" china sound, but so long as that sound is choked and unmusical, i don't consider it to be worth much. Id say theyre a little too thick to really sing out like they should, but then again ive always been an advocate of a thin china cymbal.
^ Thinner chinese cymbals for me too.

How's the 20" Z Custom? I'd imagine that would be very loud and powerful.

I kinda like B8pro, and there deffinately is a difference between them and the B8, but they're very affordable, and good cymbals.

^^ i'll second that. i'm surprised they haven't been mentioned more often in this thread. they're not half bad for the money.
