ok so I was given a LP brand high pitched jam block, and when I fasted it to the top of my highhat, the only place I'm able to fasten it to really, and I play on it, it moves whilst playing, after a few strokes it's uncomfortable to reach, and I haven't really figured out a way to get it to stop moving.

any tips?

It moves because the hi hat rod unscrews when you hit it, the only real way to stop this is to buy a cheap bracket... they arnt expensive at all and it will solve your problems.

it's quite likely that its actually your hi-hat rod thats turning instead of the jam block.

It could be the room moving and not the block...

Very true, Id like to see some sources for this information though.

this is most likely the case. I need to get a new rod, it keeps actually unscrewing on me during normal playing on the high hat.

but I'll look into the bracket. thanks much

what kind of hi-hat stand do you have?

why lay down the cash for a new rod when you could just get a conventional mounting system for like 10 bucks....

Your top hat is coming unscrewed? If that is the case it's your clutch, not the hat stand rod. You need a new clutch, like $10 for a decent Gibraltar clutch. Or if you play alot of double bass, drop the $$$ for a Tama Iron Cobra drop clutch. Or any drop clutch really.

hey man, could be your hi-hat rod, but I also have a LP Jamblock (the low pitched) and i have problems with the block mounting to any stand or claw i have. I've also experienced this with the low and high pitched at my school, they will start rotating or falling sometimes regardless of how much I tighten them. dunno how to fix it, Mine is so tight it's practically welded on.

Yeah just get yourself a simple mounting bracket, cheap as chips.
