hey guys, I just finished three recordings today. I got two originals, "A Reason to Believe" and "The Ghost" on the chopping block. I also did a cover of "Puff the Magic Dragon" as a mother's day present (kind of a long story). Anyway, just looking for some criticism on these three or any of the other songs up there. Those two originals especially though as i think they are an example of some of my better work not only songwriting-wise, but with recording production as well.

Hint: you need to add http:// to the beginning of your web address if you want your link to work.

A Reason to Believe: I like the rhythm guitar & drum parts, simple yet forceful. I wasn't crazy about the verse lyrics/vocal melodies, they seemed a little forced, like they didn't quite flow with the rest of the music all that well. Chorus lyrics & vocal melodies were more appealing. The sound quality left much to be desired (especially the drums), but I guess you were probably just using one mic, eh? I think you did a good job of mixing. All of the instruments seemed pretty well balanced.

Also, I liked the lead guitar parts for the most part. They were simple but effective and emotive (although they were a bit too sparse in a few places).

Overall, for a DIY one-man-band project this was impressive. Keep it up!

p.s. I dig the artwork on your page.

hey thanks for the feedback! heh, for the drums i was actually using like five mics, but i was soundchecking while sitting right next to the drums while playing so it was hard to tell what i was doing. but i agree, the snare sounds awful! but yeah, thanks again for being like 1 in 40 who actually commented.
