Hello, this is my first post (but will not be the only!) and I wanted to share my band with everyone.

I can't say exactly what kind of music we play, it's a little bit of everything, and every song we write is nothing like the last.

We've got a 5 song demo out right now, with a longer cd coming out this month with all our older material (a sort of retrospective or collective of all our songs), and then next month (if we find a drummer, anyway) we plan on recording a full length with all new material.

So here is the link, and please give me any feedback!

Thanks a lot

Crank That Cracker Jack Bingo

Excellent intro. Sounds alot more impressive than the techniques required but very spangly all the same. Good hook. Oh that throat has completely spoilt it. There just isn't enough depth for it to fit. Not a bad throat voice you have but put it in the right place. Nice duel tapping part. More confidence and power required on the harmonised vocals. Drumming excellent throughout. Needed the kick higher but i can hear it. That heavy part is much better and more in place. Very interesting breakdown of sorts.
Overall: Good playing needs better arrangement.

Needles

Nice initial change of pace from the last song. Throat works MUCH better hear. Distortion on the bass adds depth required. Again very well played and you do have a good throat indeed. I like the interlude. I was going to call it a solo but i don't think that'd do justice to everything that's going on here. More a soundscape than a solo. Nice abrupt ending. Unexpected and fitting.
Overall: Better arrangement and as such, better feel.

Tuesday Night Remix
Now this is nice. I do a couple of these as well so i like! I won't comment on it too much as a don't know the song that it's a remix of (not that that really matters) and i feel that's not really what you'd want crit on.

Porcupine

Now this is obviously recorded in a different session. It's much denser and frankly a little better mixed. Except for good old myspace music player crushing it. Either that or the mix is just a bit too high. Musically more of the same. The hooks i find are starting to run thin by now. Sweeping guitar? Check. Solid bass anchor? Check. Very proficient drumming? Check. Repetetive throat obliterating possibility of vocal melody? Check.
Overall: Again good enough song but the formula is starting to become a little predictable.....let's see.

Timeline

More tapping? Luckily it's well executed and spangly. Live recording i assume? I'm starting to yearn for some vocal melody now. There's nothing wrong with throat and as i've said a good few times now, you have a good set of throats. But these songs are screaming out for better hooks.

Jump to Conclusions

Throat is the way to go on this song. Much heavier. Again superbe drumming. The sad thing is that you guys are very good musicans. I can tell that. But i find myself extremely weary of the lack of hooks in your songs.

Favourite (discounting remix) = Needles.

This has no bearing on the songs but i bet you guys are Dillinger fans. ;)

Any return crit appreciated

Thank you so much for doing that. I'm glad someone could say something more than "screaming sucks your band is gay" for once.

Needles and Crank that were both recorded in a home studio with a different drummer than the other songs, which were recorded in the guitarists basement with an 8 track. And unfortunately, I do agree that even with the big dollar studio, I feel like the songs lost a lot of feeling, and I really do not like the mix at all. The stuff from the basement I mixed and recorded, so i feel it fits our sound much better.

I play bass and do the more prominent vocals, and we've heard from plenty of people that our vocals don't fit our music, but that's sort of what we were aiming for. The music scene around here sucks, so we were trying to piss off as many people as we could by writing crazy music (or just plain catchy) and just screaming our balls off over it in an attempt to say "**** you" to all the scene kids and mosh core bands that make up the scene. It worked, and now that everyone realizes that we are a somewhat legit band we've been working more on singing or more melodic vocal approaches. The singing in Crank That was the first attempt at anything of that style that either me or the guitarist had tried, so I guess that accounts for why it doesn't sound as powerful as it could. We were both embarrassed and afraid to sing!

But anyway, here is our 5 song EP to download, with the original version of Tuesday Night Turtles, and two other songs not on the myspace. If you would listen and give them a run through I'd really appreciate that too!

And I'll check out your music now.

Thanks again!
