that was interesting. reminds me a little of sufjan stevens. are you familiar with him?

- i couldn't tap my foot to it until i realized it's in 7/4. that's bold. i assume you're not expecting this to get a lot of top-40 radio airplay.

- the vocals are a bit subdued and in the background. i think they should be a tick more prominent.

- there's a lot going on instrumentally in the background. imo, it's too busy. there's all kinds of syncopated accents from several different instruments. it's a bit jumbly sounding.

- there's no chorus or bridge or any relief from the repeated verse structure. i think it gets a bit monotonous after a while.

- i like the ending the best where it all kind of gets crazy. it's creative.

- overall i think it's creative and original. i liked all the different sound textures. i just think it might be too much of a good thing.

Here is a new version

It's still not mixed to perfection (the guy doing my recording is lazy) but it has different density and instrumentation

let me know what you think

Listen to Seph and the Bloods. You need to put something into the vocals.
Its monotenous, with the looped music, something needs to grab your attention. Unfortunately, nothing does.
I'm not saying it can't be a good song, in fact the lyrics are pretty decent. Just the blandness of the vocals coupled with the monotany of the music makes it painful. Add some power and balls to the vocals and that will hold up the music and make it fit.

I like the variety of sounds in the background. For me vocal suits music but like others said it can be a bit monotonous for some people. All in all I like it.

It works for me. I like the layer of sounds and the changes in them. I find them catchy right from the start. The layers keep my interest as they change. The vocals are not very dynamic but that is okay because they balance the music and the lyrics are thoughtful. One thing I would work on is the sound levels. Sometimes the music is a little too loud for the vocals. Overall I liked the song.
