Every now and then (read: every night) I like to kick back a bottle of cheap whiskey and jam some George Jones, David Allan Coe, Hank Williams Jr and III and also some Shooter Jennings and Brad Paisley. Anyone else into country music? And I don't mean that Tim McGraw, Keith Urban **** either.

Yeah I'm serious.

That is the worst music ever invented by humans. I would listen to anything, literally anything, before that.

Thanks!

You're welcome!

I could see myself liking country in a perfect world, but I just don't dig the "southern" sound at all in anything, even if it's rock or whatever.

Any country has everything wrong with it. I'm not doing this to be annoying even though I am; I just can't stand the music.

That's 'cuz you's a got-damn Yankee, *spits chew*

Not really. Country musicians can ****in' shred, brah. I dunno, I'd rather listen to Johnny Cash than Mudvayne but that's just me.

Josh D.

What does that have to do with anything?

I appreciate country music.

Yeah guys, just so you know, 3 years ago when I was in high school, I liked a lot of music, and one particular one was influential musically (i.e. Matt McDonough) when I was getting better at drumming. Then I found Sputnik and chose a name based on that. They must have been the only band I liked then apparently. What a loser.

lol

For newer country, download 5th Gear and Time Well Wasted by Brad Paisley and prepare to have your face melted off.

For older outlaw country, any David Allan Coe album or Hank Williams Jr's Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound will do the trick.

Joe Nichols is pretty great for a more mainstream artist.

country is a genre of extremes, mostly its either really lame commercialized crap or way too ****ing hickish for its own good. there are some great songs scattered throughout all of that though.

"Real" country is ok. I'm not a big fan of any of the modern stuff at all. And I don't willingly listen to it, I just don't really turn it off if it's on.

Seems to be lots of pop-country in the charts lately, from the limited interaction I've had with it.

The Hold Steady - Boys And Girls In America is a good album. A mix alt rock with country.
Drive-By Truckers - Tornadoes, the one song I've heard by them, but it's pretty sweet
