Swedish metallers THERION have issued the following update:
"Today we have an announcement that will come as a shock to all of you. The four permanent members of the band have had some discussions and it is clear that we have different goals and visions for the future. Therefore it is best for the band, ourselves as individuals and for the fans that we go separate ways now when there is still plenty of time before the next THERION album and world tour. This means that Christofer [Johnsson, THERION mainman] will continue with THERION and the others will perform their music in other projects and bands.
"We're all still friends, no one is disappointed and there's still some work we have left to do together in terms of editing of materials we have recorded for future DVD's.
"Best regards to all of you and thank you so much for the wonderful support you have given the band during the time we have played together."
Chris finally gets a decent lineup...and then drops them all. Loved their sound on the last album, too...a damn shame.

Mats Levens leaving last year was a kind of a hard thing to take but this is a defenitive setback for therion.

Yeah, I agree! I felt like he finally found his place in the band, too...his singing on "Son of the Staves of Time" was awesome.
...and the only one left is Snowy Shaw, who is god awful.
**** I loved all of the vocalists on Gothic Kabbalah and thought they were the best so far.
This is disappointing :(

I like their early stuff more but Gothic Kabbalah was still a solid album. :-/

Gothic Kabbalah is my favorite of theirs.
Mine too...or, at least, it's tied with Vovin.
Secret of the Runes and Theli remain my favourites.

But he makes up for that with hid stupid stage act. Saw them twice last year, firts time with Mats and at Wacken with the other vocalist. Second time was really disapointinf tbh.
Favorite album: Secret of the Runes or Vovin.

What must be remembered though is that Therion are almost constantly evolving. I mean look how far they've come since their earliest stuff (not that it was bad).
This may turn out to be a good thing....
Ya never know.

The last album is very good too.

Wait...I'm confused.
Are you saying that Shaw makes up for being a terrible singer with his stupid stage act? That doesn't make much sense.

You already trolled once and didn't get a response so you decided to troll again? That's a poor show.

I didn't think Shaw was that bad, from what I've seen at Wacken. At times he gets a bit self-absorbed, though.

Ugh...I can't stand his parts on the new album. E.g. on Sophia...sounds like he's trying to sing operatically but has no idea what he's doing, so it just sounds incredibly cheesy and pretentious.

PEEEREEEENNNIIIIIAAALLLLLL.
Snowy reminds me a bit of Fabio Lione, in that he sort of has an ok voice, but tries much too hard to sound epic.

Well, he's not that bad but because he tries so hard to have an original stage act he makes more mistakes than he should have to (read: he should leave that stupid book at home).
NP: Grindeman - Go tell the woman
Haha, I noticed that book. I thought it might have been because he couldn't speak German (he was singing Schwarzalbenheim at the time).

I think he used it more when I saw them in the 013 earlier that year, so you could be right that it had lyrics he couldn't remember.
