Borat was funny, but killed by the flood of people who felt they could do the voice, and failed.
It's the kind of movie only funny once.

We'll see what he does as Bruno.

i liked it the first time, but the last time i tried watching it i had to turn it off it was so boring

Unfortunately it didn't live up to the massive hype it created.

ohcleverhansyou
04-27-2008, 06:27 PM
Yeah, my friends trying to do the voice absolutely killed the movie for me, which I had found to be pretty good.

it didn't live up to the hype, but it's not that bad. i can remember laughing at a couple of parts.

The nude scene was hilarious though.

As a fan of Borat since 'The Ali G Show' days, I did enjoy it but the saturation of it in mainstream media and popular culture got a bit much.

Seeing a Borat impersonation in the Epic Movie previews was traumatic.

I just found the movie depressing to watch. It had nothing to do with people doing the voice and everything to do with the fact that the film felt mean-spirited on Borat's part, which felt wrong. I wasn't entertained or enlightened, just sick. And at 80 minutes or whatever it still felt too long.

I wasn't depressed, I was amused. There were funny parts. It wasn't a modern masterpiece, or a brilliant satire, but it was a good comedy.

Certain segments were funnier than others, some fell flat, and some trudged along.

Overall it was mediocre.

I thought it was great. Decent satire.

Given the number of terrible, terrible comedies to come out in recent years, Borat actually ranks quite highly. It's not amazing but it's better than 90% of other recent comedies.

no one ruined it people can't do that

it had some awesome jokes but some of them seemed a bit too easy and cruel

like i think it slightly lost the point when it came to making a film - instead of gently coaxing out bigoted opinions and making their bearers feel foolish, it was entirely exploitative, preying on people's stupidity rather than their neuroses

a few bits were exempt, like those wankers in the mobile home and the street scenes where he absolutely terrified the pedestrians he got slightly close to

plus it dwelled far too much on comedy generated entirely by borat and azamat. I didn't think that really said anything, but it was pretty good slapstick at times.

It was pretty good, but got old incredibly quickly. It just felt like an overlong sketch.

Movie sucked.

Then hearing people imitate it after I saw the movie made it suck even more.

It was very sucky.

I thought it was quite good actually, I don't own it but I'll have to pick it up at some point.

I remember it having a sudden ending which made you not want to lose the world the film portrayed much like the first Jackass movie - it was sad to see it end.

the only thing worse than people imitating Borat are people still imitating Napoleon Dynamite.

the thing with Borat is that watching small clips of the movie are much more funnier than watching the movie as a whole
