Okay, based on the fact that I'm looking to buy an LCD, I thought it'd be good to have a thread designated to the discussion of TVs. TVs are friggin' expensive, so any advice we can give people is good. I'll start:
Sony Bravia-W Series. Anyone know about them?

I bought a 32 inch Sony Bravia TV last boxing day for 699 (Canadian). I absolutely love it, 0 complaints.

I really wanted a HDTV for my 360, but I might just buy a large PC monitor instead as they are HD and will be more practicle for when I got to Uni.
I've been kind of out of the loop with tv's for about 6 months now
But last I remember, the Sony Bravia's are nice, but overpriced. Samsungs, are similiar to same quality for less price (though that might have changed now).
LG's were also pretty standout in my opinion, and usually less expensive then the Samsungs as well

I got this bad boy a few weeks ago...

It's awesome tbh, half the price of a Bravia and there's only very very tiny differences in quality. Like my TV has a very very small amount of light bleeding through when you turn it on, but it's gone after 2-3 minutes.
The screen itself is a Samsung in a cheaper case with no 'Brand' on it.
Actually, the one I got was a 'Sense' TV, but Vistron own Sense, so I think they should be the same, but with a different name.
Last I knew, Samsung and Sony both use the same screens
ehh, I might shy away from off brand televisions. They are without out a doubt getting better, but I don't know if they are quite there yet. The newer model Vizio, Insignia, and maybe Sanyo flat panels are really the only ones that I've noticed that have been decent.

When it comes to LCD TVs, there are only two brands of screen, Samsung and LG.

Plasma is cheaper per square inch than LCD's

Plasma is old technology. LCDs don't burn static images and don't have ghosting issues. Plasmas are cheaper per square inch until 43" [more than 42"] then it's more expensive.
I'm looking at the 40" W-Series [newest series] has 3 HDMI inputs and a built-in Hi-Def Tuner. I want something with at least 2 HDMI inputs cause I'll soon be running both X-Box 360 Elite and a PS3.

Plasma televisions are generally more affordable as they get larger.

Also LCD's have more of a problem with ghosting than Plasma displays due to their slower response times.
On any decent quality newer model Plasma (say 2007+) imagine burn in is almost non existent. Most brands offer some sort of pixel shift or white washing feature to help eliminate this problem. Unless you are using a computer or just are not smart about it, you will never have an issue with it
Also, nearly every brand of television nowadays offers at least 2 HDMI inputs and every television display manufactured after 2007 is required to have an HD tuner built in

My LCD runs at 120hz so the response times are just as good as anything.
oh okay here you go

I want an HDTV but they're too expensive and I need a new monitor so I'm just going to get one of those handy 24'' Dells. Runs in full HD so yeah.

I would get a plasma screen if it was bigger than ~42"
LCDs are awesome and my 32" is fantastic. Samsung. Make sure you see them in person because these questions of "which are better? lol" are unnecessary when you just go to the damn store and look at them yourself. Go to product pages and look at the ratings (usually products with ~100+ ratings are solid evaluations) to learn about longevity issues and the like, but other than that, go out and investigate to see what you really want.

Also don't stress over colour saturation much when you see it in store because you're going to want to calibrate it yourself. Look at black/white levels.

Plasma, older technology?
I saw LCD screens well before Plasma screens (old laptops from early 90s and such).
