Tying to decide between this and a warwick
Anyone got one?
Interested in one round 1,000 euro mark (bout $1900 i think)
How would they be for metal?
Good action for dropping tuning?
Cheers

What Spector in particular? The lower end Spectors are really all that great, but the higher-end ones (above $1000) are really great. The Warwick's have a growlier tone and fatter neck, but the Spector just has this quality about the tone that I absolutely adore.
Check out Coheed and Cambria's "Welcome Home" and "The Suffering" and listen to the bass on both of those tracks. The bassist plays a Spector and really cuts through the mix well on both those tracks. Finding recordings of metal with Warwicks is simple. They're everywhere.
As far as down tuning, both have very solid construction and you shouldn't have any problems.

If you're shopping in that price range, I'd suggest looking into the used market for Spectors to find a potential sweet deal on the ReBop bolt on models. I dislike the sound EMG HZ pups put out, but they are great for metal. The ReBops range from 1900 to 2100 USD and are pretty much all you can hope to buy brand new in your price range.
Look into the Legend Classics made in Korea as they are alright, but I would recommend playing one extensively before buying one.
I've owned 2 Spectors and my favorites are produced in the 80s when Kramer was making them, as well when Stuart Spector went solo in the 90s with his SSD models.
You might find Warwicks would provide you with more bang for your buck, as well they are very popular so a used one might be easier to find.

Yummy. Beautiful bass. The Euro series is great. ++
As suggested above, definitely check the used market too (ebay, etc). You can find great deals on there and may be able to get more for less.

i would personally recommend the warwick. if you're looking for an ERB (which it appears you are), one thing to take into consideration is the scale length (warwick = 34" and spector = 35"). personally the 34" are more comfortable for me, but to each his own.
