Played it at a gig Friday night (or rather Saturday morning) at 2am. It sat in really well with the band. I had my bass cranked more than usual and I forgot how I much I missed the feeling of my rig rumbling.
Even better it really cut through with all of the mwah because I had it strung with Elixir nanowebs. I don't think I'll keep them on though because they're a little too buzzy.
Oh, and Mr. Karas, it's strung EADGC.

Did you post this over at TB? I think i saw it there, or something very similar at least.
Looks good though, never been a fan of the fretless sound but.

Mutha, that bass looks nice. I kind of always wanted to try a Conklin 5er.

Yeah and I believe you posted your P-bass on the same page as me (I think we were in the Show Your Basses Episode 5 thread), so that's probably where you saw it.
Thanks guys.

^Have you seen any lefty GT7 fretlesses? I've only seen them fretted.... I would definitely sell this to get a GT7 if I could find one without those pesky metal things in the way.

No I have not, a defret job is always an option though
muthafunkabass
04-21-2008, 08:11 PM
Yeah, I guess that would have to be the only option. I wish that dick at George's music didn't insist that I have to play lefty since I'm left-handed...

Getting a fretless upcharge or getting a defret job, either way you're paying extra.

Since when do you play lefty?

Since always?

And isn't that ironic?
No, I really don't think.
I always thought EADG/C played righty for some reason.

What does that have to do with you learning to play lefty?

He convinced to buy a left-handed bass and he started teaching me, as I played lefty because he thought that I could never learn righty...

A good friend of mine is a lefty, but made the right choice to learn playing guitar as a right-hander. It's been a huge asset to him. It's the only thing he does right-handed.

Of course.
So I was thinking of putting a Badass on it to improve sustain and clarity...

Changing everything but the strings? How very James Jamerson of you. Makes sense though, as it will preserve your tone and give you the exact sound you are looking for.

Put one them there bad-anus bridges on there. Hear they have so much sustain that they cure world hunger.

If spiff were here, he would probably more accurately inform you of the progression, but I'll simply put it as:
Vin Diesel -> Chuck Norris -> Badass II Bridge.

Well the bridge affects tone much more than the strings.

It's true.

But why? Changing strings eliminates that pure, low-end thump you get when the strings have been on for 3 years. And you were complaining about a lack of low end in your thread...

I don't think you got the joke.
if you replaced every single component, it would no longer be the same bass. or would it? deep philosophical questions arise.

I totally got the joke. I just thought it was funny that you left out the strings, when they are, by far, the most frequently changed!
I decided to assume that you kept the same strings to get that low end in your sound.
