Do the same thing to all your other fingers to even it out.

Wait.
Or drain it and fill it with super glue.

I usually just keep playing. The blister will tear off and the remaining skin gets tougher.

ice helps blisters.

pop it close to the base with a safety pin, then hit it with a hair dryer, its what i do. drains it, then dries it out.

If you absolutely have to, you can drain the blister, but I don't recommend it. Let the skin heal and then keep going. You will build a callous there regardless.
Filling the blister with super glue will just risk infection. You're better off buying the Band-Aid New Skin stuff and using that. Creates a coating like super glue does, except it's antibacterial as well.
And EADGC, peeing on your hands actually SOFTENS them and kills any possibility of callousing. I peed on my hands every morning in the shower for a month as a test, and by the end of the month, I had no callouses left, and my fingers would begin to hurt after 15 minutes of play, which was significantly less time than before.

I think the only way pissing on your hands would be beneficial is because piss is sterile. Or close to.

Try pooing on your hands... if pee makes it softer, then surely...
(no one correct me! we could have him pooing on his hands and laugh at him)

Get a lil bowl of vinegar and bathe your blistered finger in it. Hardens the skin up...once the pruneyness goes away:p
It's what I do every time I get a blister. It has yet to let me down. Although...it does stink.
Take a needle and thread, dip them in some disinfectant.
Thread the needle, the pop the blister with the needle and pull the thread through. This will allow it to drain.
Once it seems to have stopped draining, then use some superglue over it or wait for it to harden into a callouse.

Well, Moises Alou supposedly pees on his hands during spring training to build up his callouses faster.
However, I don't know that he washes them afterwards, which could be the difference.
Plus, there was a thread about callouses and peeing on your hands a couple years back, so I thought I'd test it out, once and for all. Lo and behold...nope. I sacrificed myself for you people.

Why does it have to be in the shower?
Just thought I'd point that out. Personally, I don't pee in the shower.

Generally less messy that way, as any splattering is instantly washed away by an invigorating stream of water from above.

What if I just pee in the toilet and soak my hands in it?
Sablate McNuff
04-17-2008, 12:56 PM
I think it requires a direct pee-to-hand contact and not a diluted version in a porcelain medium.

I come to the bass forum every now and then because I play bass every now and then, just to see what you guys are talking about
But, umm.. yeah. I don't pee on my hands. Generally, things that go OUT of your body are not meant to go back in or on it.. that's just my opinion

And like I said in my previous post, it is actually detrimental to your hands in terms of callouses and playing bass.
My hands were considerably softer though, but I'd rather use non-pee scented lotions instead.

There's lots of water diluting it in the shower. Sure, it makes direct contact, but there's still lots of water.

Just be a man and pee on your hands. Put your hands in front of your piss stream as you pee in the toilet, let it soak in for a couple minutes, then wash and apply non-pee scented lotions
Or don't.
I can't possibly fathom the benefit of it

Maybe if you soak your strings in pee it'll help your callouses build faster.

So, I'm not sure this will work and it is completely a theory I've been testing for a while. It's seemed to work so far and I've gotten some pretty good callouses out of it.
I call it... playing bass.
I'm sorry, I just felt like being that dick :thumb:

If by dick, you mean illiterate, then yes, I would have to agree with you.
The threadstarter was not asking for advice on how to build up callouses. He was looking for advice with how to deal with a blister.
Blister =/= callouses. You can still get blisters even if you have callouses.

Haha oops, I forgot to quote who I was responding to. I was talking about the later-in-thread discussion of callouses through peeing on one's hands, rather than the thread-starter's blistering.
