Greetings and salutations,

I have been compiling a list of bugs for mx to have a look at when his work hits a lull, but I figure having the entire community point things out will make things easier (and also help me in case I missed some stuff).

If you know of any glaring (or not-so-glaring) bugs, please post them here.

For clarification, the following examples are not bugs:

- problem users
- your reviews aren't flagged
- lack of doom as a genre

Please and thank you.

forgive me if this has already been brought up, but almost every time i click on the last post link for a review, it links me a few pages after the actual last comment was made. for example if a review has only 7 pages of comments it will link you to page 9.

The explanation for that is deleted comments. For example, if there originally were 2,000 comments in Cocaine's PTH review, but I went in and wiped out 200 of them, it would still go to page 20 instead of page 18.

The fact that editing a band usually a) erases their band picture and b) resets their secondary and tertiary genres has been annoying me.

Also, the fact skipping a line in a review/news comment comes out as two skipped lines.

edit: Jom does that still happen? I thought it was fixed a while ago but the old reviews are still screwy.

Nope, I still get a double-space and not a single-space. When you go to edit it, though, you have to double-space everything manually because it gets condensed into one giant block of text.

edit edit: no I meant the deleting comments thing edit:

Oh. Well, in that case, I have no idea!

lack of doom as a genre
Well that sucks then!
Onto serious matters, my 'Find a Band' feature up on the top right of the homepage has been missing for the last few hours. It occasionally disappears but pops up again within 30 minutes or so, but I haven't seen hide nor hair for perhaps 4 hours.

Persistent error when loading soundoffs page. It's happening more often than not these days.

Example:

Warning: fopen(http://xml.amazon.com/onca/xml3?dev-t=D2WMCOIPS9D14E&f=xml&KeywordSearch=Doppelganger% 20Doppelganger&mode=music&page=1&t=mxtabs-20&type=lite&v=1): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable in /var/www/html/sputnik/amazonli.php on line 119

Amazon is obviously to blame. Here's a screenie:

You might not have noticed this, but mx took out the Amazon links a little bit ago.

a) When you click on someone else's list it takes you into your own profile and displays the list in your profile.

b) Some users' profiles state that have '0' album ratings when they have rated multiple albums

c) I can only rate 10% of the albums I have rated classics...I know this is a precaution to control troll ratings and users who only rate albums classics, but it's very annoying for me and it would be nice if it could be changed. I don't think it's true for every user.

Sorry for the personal complaint, but I think my first two bugs are pertinent.

The 10% warning on classic ratings doesn't hold up. It's just a warning.

No, I get this message every time I try to rate another album a 5.

"Only 10% of your ratings can be 5's. This rating should only be given to the very best albums, or 'classics'. Please don't use the rating lightly. If you really feel this album deserves a 5, please go back and change some of your other ratings that don't deserve a 5."

Yes, you get that message -- everyone does. However, your rating still goes through.

Sorry for the unnecessary commotion.

it's like why do i even bother using the internet

in all honesty, i hardly rate albums 5's so it doesn't come up enough that i'm bothered and it's a good warning. but seriously, at least redirect the user to their previous page after 5 seconds or something that makes sense. it's not a difficult fix by any means, even a link would suffice.

Yeah, exactly.

Yes, I also noticed that if I am in a fellow user's profile and click on one of his reviews it takes me to the flag review of the album instead of his own.

Obviously, if mine or his are the flag review then it will take us to our own.

Man, ever since the comment per page limit was raised, there are so many glitches with it its enormous. Not only does virtually (meaning every review that had 21+ comments) now have the "Page 2 of 1 etc" problem, new reviews that go above 20 comments are having that problem as well. Its really, really, really one of the most annoying things ever.

any sort of list except for album lists, the descriptions still don't work.

album artwork on lists gets screwed up often, but there are too many variables of this occurance to list. a big problem is artwork for an album (of the same name) added to the database before the actual album listed shows up instead.

when you edit a post in a news article, you get sent to a dead page I do believe. needs to be fixed (although we will all miss it).

mx

What do you need?

ALFF
04-27-2008, 11:04 PM
Spoiler tags!
Hyperlinks!
Slight avatar size improvement!
Code tags!
Skin uniformality!
Give Jelle some proper admin powers, as you do nothing!
etc.

Please Jeremy, think of us poor, lonely forum users just once in a while. Or you can give us these features and be gone again :(.

If you're viewing a band using /band/bandname (opposed to /bands.php?bandid=bandid) and click the More Lists link it says "listfinder.php" was not found in our database.

I'm not sure if it's a bug or if Confessed is refreshing my review, but in the Daitro/SNS review has gotten 1000 views in the past 10 minutes, which is ridiculous.

Jom
05-09-2008, 12:25 PM
Dave and I have been trying to figure that out. We think it has something to do with the new Google agreement mx has, but I can't substantiate that at all yet.

Well it needs to start happening to my reviews!

that stupid ****ing comma that keeps appearing at the end of everyone's list of bands in their profile.

it's messy as hell and it makes me cry like a wiener
