Rapture's Delight

Now this song is certainly not done. The instrumentals are going to be an important part of the final composition. I'd like some feedback on the vocals and the lyrics. A friend of mine suggested I write a song about dealing with the devil, a classic theme of guitar/fiddle playing. I thought about it for a while, and decided to do a different take on it. Since the devil is more of a metaphor for temptation in the eyes of the christian religion, I don't really got a problem with the guy. He is a symbol of chaos, of adventure, of all those things that are apparently sinful but feel so right and show you so much more about the universe and the extent of the world than previously thought possible.

The devil could be drugs, sex, music, comedy, anything depicted as evil or wrong by those religious nuts.

The devil is a metaphor for all the things in life that inspire you to think for yourself.

I was sittin' by a lake of fire
Wonderin' if I could get any higher
And the devil told me
if I made a sacrifice
I could do anything I pleased

He said, give up everything
That ain't got no real meaning
You gotta become the change
You wish to see in the world

Give it up, give everything
When you've nothing left
Its time to sing
Full of passionate love
Free of regret
Life's limitations are in your head
Devote yourself
Embrace your life
God's got the power,
but I got the dice
Who knows what you could do
If you would only try

I've cleared my head of noxious passions
You know, what you see is what you make happen
So I'm gonna keep an image in my mind's eye
Of what our world could be
Full of hope and joy and saving grace
Never slowin' down
What's right ain't whats safe
Gotta ride the winds of change
Into a daring future.

Gotta separate and distinguish
Embrace unique uncertainties
Never fallin' behind
But never followin' the kind
That need another's word
Take your shot
Show your face
**** their system
Join the race
The sky's no limit
And only god can guess
What we could achieve
