The melody is more or less on the bass.

I really like the feel. Never got tired of the bassline throughout the entire song, nor any of it. In the spirit of constructive criticism, the only thing that bothered me was the tone of the drums, and I imagine that's because of the recording methods you used. If they sounded fuller, given a boomier bass drum and if you dropped the cymbals a little bit in the beginning, it would sound impeccable.
I kept hearing rapping over this track in my head, or maybe a choir rising and falling dynamically with the song.
The bass line is great, I couldn't criticize it at the very epitome of my cynicism. Very tasteful and very groovy, suits the song perfectly.

sounds alright. the guitar sounds kinda like it's the RSE on Guitar Pro almost, or MIDI even.
but yeah, it's all very nice, don't particularly like the chord progression in the chorus, but it's you song, not mine ...

Good ear, tomtom. It's all RSE.
I know the drums are awful. Thanks for the praise and the advice, RD. The choir idea is very interesting.

thought it all sounded a bit odd electronic. it was the guitar that gave it away, lol
what's this piece for? are you composing for anything in particular?

I compose for myself. If I hear a tune in my head, I try to get it down. Recently, a friend (who happens to be a very good guitarist) has heard them and desires to record them with me. As a result, I'm verifying their quality with people. :P

ahh, hope that goes well
it should sound nice with proper instruments ... did you play bass at all on this recording, or is it RSE as well?

Sadly, it's all RSE. I don't really have the capability to record, although I'm trying to find the means. Preferrably I would record all of the tracks to my computer so I could mix them most effectively, but I don't know if that's standard procedure.
Concerning the rising chorus idea, I am rather fancy to it, but have no idea how to accomplish it. Could you elaborate some more?

it's a good idea. just get some real instruments in there, and it would sound helluva lot better. very like... dark pop sounding.
generally, recording and mixing on the computer is the "standard" for home recording.
grab yourself an audio program like adobe audition or something of the like, go to whatever electronics store you know of, buy yourself a 1/4" to 1/8" jack, plug into your microphone hole on your computer, and you're set to do some extremely basic recording

Cool bassline. Thought you could leave a couple notes out going into the chorus from the intro to let it breathe a bit more, but it is a really cool bassline.
