THURSDAY AND ENVY ANNOUNCE SPLIT ALBUM!!!
Weıve decided to convert rumor into fact and lay it all out for all you good peoples. New Jerseyıs Thursday and Old Tokyoıs Envy will come together to release a split LP+CD this fall, released by Temporary Residence Ltd. It will be a limited edition LP+CD set; there will be no separated CD or LP versions. Both formats will come in one package, and both will contain the same music. This means it may not be available in Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Circuit City, or most ³record² stores in the mall. But it will certainly be available at your local independently owned record store, while supplies last. Weıre not yet sure how limited it will be; maybe 10,000, maybe a billion (probably closer to the former, as we really donıt have space for a billion LPs). In addition, there will be a deluxe, hand-printed edition that will be sold exclusively through our webstore. These will be screenprinted by hand, and will be limited colored vinyl editions. There is no specific release date set yet, but look for this around Sep/Oct.

Discuss how awesome this is.

i'm betting it won't be very awesome. maybe it would've been awesome two years ago.

yeah thursday's side will prob suck but the envy side will rule. and maybe Thursday will be like "maybe we should write good songs because we're doing a record with envy"

That new thursday song from Kill the House Lights or w/e was one of the better songs they've done so maybe this will be good apart from Envy's side.

Envy will rule.

This is the logic I used, I'm guessing Thursday will step their game up.

the single was ladies and gentleman, my brother, the failure

envy's abyssal and insomniac doze were two of the best things they've done

Yeah this. Waiting is really great, Full Collapse is one of my favorite albums, and everything else is okay and has had a few good tracks and the rest I could do without.

The ending part is mad lame, Ill give you that. I still dig it.

WATT is by far their weakest album though.

I was bumping ACBTLD earlier today, Autumn Leaves Revisited is such a badass song.

Full collapse has got all that over produced and processed through a chorus pedal feel, but it never bothered me and I love the songs. WATT was way better than the last album, apart from 'Running from the rain'.

Let's Chop Cats!
04-04-2008, 09:29 AM
the only over produced thing about FC is the vocals cause geoff can't sing in key for ****

cbmartinez
04-04-2008, 10:58 AM
yeah i mean the guitars do have a lot of that reverby watery sound but I never really minded it much. I think it accentuates the amazing guitar work. Plus, the way it's recorded just works so well, it's mixed perfectly, every song has this amazing layering and subtlety to it.

cobert
04-04-2008, 01:02 PM
I liked the reverby underwater guitar sound.

Alcore
04-04-2008, 01:07 PM
me too, the wierd production makes it sounds really unique. especially with the intro and outro

Brad Norris Fan 777
04-04-2008, 03:31 PM
the outro track is cool as hell

and how long is the night? is like thursday's best song

Yeah, "How Long Is The Night?" is my favorite

Brad Norris Fan 777
04-04-2008, 04:16 PM
his screaming is more bearable in that one too

cobert
04-04-2008, 10:28 PM
I'll probably hop on the bandwagon and say 'How Long Is The Night?' is in my top 3, possibly my favorite.

Anxious
04-04-2008, 10:43 PM
I don't see what people see in Thursday, even in Full Collapse. It justt annoys the hell out of me. I walked out 4 songs int their set when I saw them play.

Nowadays Envy are just boring, derivative and predictable.

This still intrigues me.

cobert
04-04-2008, 11:50 PM
I know the reason I like Thursday is basically because it introduced me into 'heavier' styles of music. The thank-yous to Waiting basically got me into emo. I'm pretty sure if I was just introduced to them recently I wouldn't like them nearly as much, but then again, I would have probably been listening to entirely different music.

Brad Norris Fan 777
04-05-2008, 03:24 AM
I liked them a lot in like 7th grade, then I kinda rediscovered them recently, idk.

cbmartinez
04-05-2008, 02:37 PM
best song how long is the night?

Brad Norris Fan 777
04-05-2008, 03:31 PM
yes

cobert
04-06-2008, 12:56 PM
I would go with "How Long Is The Night?", "Streaks In The Sky", "Dying In New Brunswick", "A Hole In The World", and "For The Workforce, Drowning" as their best jamz.

Brad Norris Fan 777
04-06-2008, 02:20 PM
i'd say like

how long is the night?, autumn leaves revisited, dying in new brunswick, for the workforce drowning, and m. shepherd

cobert
04-06-2008, 03:22 PM
Oh and Autumn Leaves Revisited, because that song is seriously the ****.

Brad Norris Fan 777

that song seriously rules

i listened to kill the house lights and a city by the light divided last night, besides "We Will Overcome" and "Running From The Rain" those CDs are terrible

cobert
04-07-2008, 03:57 PM
Kill The House Lights is almost half demos. I wish the instrumental tracks had lyrics, I really dig "The Roar of Far Off Black Jets". "Panic On the Streets of Health Care City" is probably better than "The Other Side of the Crash".

Off of ACBTLD I really only like the tracks Chris listed plus "Autumn Leaves Revisited" and maybe "At This Velocity".

cbmartinez
04-07-2008, 03:59 PM
idk the style on a city is just so bad, it's not thursday at all

cobert
04-07-2008, 04:00 PM
Would it be better if they nixed the keys?

EDIT: Oh and the lack of sweet guitar melodies on that album was weak.

cbmartinez
04-07-2008, 04:08 PM
yeah it seems like they tried to make up for ignoring andrew for the first three albums by putting these obnoxious keyboard lines in some of the songs

and yeah the guitarwork is terrible, instead of the intricate dual guitar interplay of watt and fc, it's just these muddy pounding eight note progressions

Understanding In a Crash
04-07-2008, 04:15 PM
Thursday has not released a extremely weak album. (note: username)

Waiting is a great debut showing the potentials of this band. The recording quality is nasty and the vocals on this album turned me off from this band for awhile.

Kill The Lights has alot of quality and interesting demos and some obviously half assed ones.

Full Collapse is a classic in it's time and still is.

WATT has alot of good production moments within it and is my favorite album on the recording style and production ways.

ACBTLD is not typical Thursday esque sound but I like the way they experimented with the sound and I can't believe people are actually believing after 4-5 albums that they are going to duplicate their identity to every album. There are plenty of bands who do that already.

04-07-2008, 04:56 PM
idk the style on a city is just so bad, it's not thursday at all

Agreed. It sucks when it came out, and it sucks now. Its a shame they still put stuff out, seeing as they will never better the old stuff. Same with Envy, these days they just drift off into Mogwai territory. I eagerly anticipate that Off minor/Ampere split.
