I am interested in selling my drum kit but dont know how much I can and should sell it for.
The drums are:
Mapex M Birch black laquer
6 piece all with remo pinstripes over evans g1
Snare is an evans dry over a 300 hazy
All drums are in mint condition, not so much as a scratch on them.
Also with the drums are:
Zildjian A custom mastersound 14" Hats
Zildjian Avedis 16" medium crash
Zildjian Avedis 18" medium Thin Crash
Sabian AA 20" Heavy Ride
Wuhan 18" China
All cymbals and drums are in mint condition since they are played very rarely.
How much do you think I could ask and get for these drums?

I also live in canada, and we only have 2 music stores here that sell drums...

Price it all new at musicians friend, and try selling it for 70-80 percent of that if it's all in mint condition. Be prepared to lower your price if it doesn't sell.

$1500 USD tops.
you have a good $700-$750 worth of cymbals there, in their used condition. brand new, the drums are about $825. used and in great condition, you could get about $675 for them.
that brings your total to about $1375-$1425. i'd aim for just below the former.

Do you think I could make more by selling all the parts seperate???
lmldrummer
03-26-2008, 03:45 PM
selling the kit and the cymbals seperatly, you probably could
not the individual parts of the kit though
LoneStarDrummer
03-26-2008, 04:05 PM
^agreed. the cymbals sold separately will give you a chance to make some nice money, but the kit should definitely go all together with hardware.
the down side is more hassle dealing with individual stuff. you have to deal with emails about different items and ship to different people, also you loose money when you have to ship several different items.

Even mint used Zildjian stuff usually only sells for about 50% of the retail value because there is a literal shitstorm of it on ebay. I just bought a 15" A custom fast crash for $85 that was a store demo, so it had some finger prints on it.

You guys have stuff so cheap it's unbelievably.
600 bucks = £300 (ish) for a 6 peice m birch...that's the same price as most shitty starter kit's over here.

^^^ He's right. You guys really do have it much better than us with music gear. My brother was in New York for 2 weeks a few years back so I got him to pick me up an 18" Avedis medium thin crash. It worked out at costing just over £90. Over hear you would have to pay at least £145 for it.

Jo where can i get that pick without i being censored?
First off....it's spelt "Joe." "Jo" is the female version i.e. my girlfriends name......yes we're both called Jo(e)!!!
Second, I don't know. I found the picture the way it is: censored.....I'm sure you can find other uncensored pictures of her around......
Yeah...UK is stupidly expensive. I've known of some Americans who come here on holiday and are like "man, back home I'm rich....here, I'm not even considered well off!!!"

03-28-2008, 12:23 PM
^^^ Its not just america thats cheap though. Pretty much anywhere in Europe you can buy a 20 pack of smokes for under €4 (about £3) but in the UK the cheapest you will pay is about £4.30 these days.

Does anyone on here live in canada? Unless you are in a major town, you tend to pay big cash for stuff. Also even though the canadian dollar is strong, the prices havent changed at all. Americans would say pay $150 for a cymbal, canadians would still pay at least $250.

im canadian...what cymbal do you pay $150 for?
when i had a K splash, it cost me $110

03-28-2008, 08:02 PM
Are you from toronto or ottawo though? Any other big town around there? That was just an example though, I paid 450 for my A Custom Hats and i looked everywhere in town.....and that was the cheapest. Another music store had em on for over 500.

im an hour away from Toronto (St. Catharines).
I just bought a pair of K mastersounds and i paid less than $350
450 for a mastersounds is just a rip-off. I can get a pair of constantinoples for $440
benjiman1111
03-28-2008, 08:14 PM
But to be completely fair you get all your music stuff in a major drum store in Toronto. I live in a city where about 20% of the people are on welfare.
Panopticon
03-28-2008, 08:33 PM
no i don't. I've never gone to toronto to buy something from a store.
In my city we have 2 music shops, and one recently burnt down.

I don't understand why you just don't pay the little extra bit to have stuff shipped in from the united states. You can get a pair of mastersound hats on ebay for like $220 and all you have to pay is probably an extra $20 on top of the normal shipping costs.

^^^ We have import tax and stuff like that. Any goods that get sent from outside the EU to the UK will probably have to pay either customs duty, excise duty, or import VAT. I'm not sure on how much any of these are but after paying them I doubt it will make much difference.

Ouch, that is pretty brutal. What if you had a friend in the US accept the shipment for you from the company and then ship it to you? Would you still have to pay taxes and stuff?
