The X-7's are poplar? I knew the "All hardwood shells" sounded fishy.

Heh, neither can I. Pity i dont have any clamps for the rack toms. Im rocking a 4 peice set up at the moment.
I never truely beleived that there could be so much of a difference in the woods that makeup a drum in relation to sound. Goog god how i was wrong.
Anywho, the specs
Mapex pro M limited edition in Honey Maple Burst
8x7
10x8
12x9
14x14
16x16
22x20
14x5.5
All of this for just under $2000 New Zealand dollars. In perpsective, a 5 peice export is going for $1700, a 5 peice vision is $2100. I think i got a good deal. More pics will follow when its set up.

Hey everyone. Yeah i got them from the rockshop. (New Zealand's guitar centre for all the americans out there.) They were surprisingly helpful.
Ill post some more pics soon, except three of the toms are still on the floor as they have nothing to be mounted on. Its almost killing me waiting for arms and stuff.

Im actually having some trouble putting some extra oomph into my kick pedal to move the amount of air in the drum. Oh well, i sure i'll get used to it. If anyone wanted to donate me three clamps with 12mm tubes, that'd be great :D

Nice looking shells, I'm surprised you went with such a deep bass but a shallow snare o_o
keaton_86
03-24-2008, 09:24 PM
To be perfectly honest, I would've much rather had a 22x18 bass, cept this was the one that was in the shop, and i loved the colour and siezes of everything else, so i thought it would have to do. When i get my second bass i might get 22x18

keaton_86
05-05-2008, 07:14 AM
2 bass, 3 up, 2 down. Hey damo, if you're reading, could you give me a ballpark figure of how much the bass will cost me in AUD. Seeing as im NZ it should be similar. Its 22x20.

Obsessive compulsive disorder. I dont actually have it, i just like all my stuff to match. Also, I've really gotten used to the bigger kick size. Plus they look friggin sweet.

That's probably a good idea. Best to have both kicks the same so that it doesn't throw off your left/right foot coordination/balance.

Ah right. I think I'm the same, maybe that's why I want another hybrid to match my other crash?!

Its really quite fun. And the great thing is, if i want a smaller kit, i just take drums away and add them when I want. When i get my other kick I'll basically have 2 kits:D
