i just had a couple questions about it.

1) what's the second foam ring for?

2) i'm assuming it's supposed to muffle the sound on my kick, much like a small blanket or towel would. i put it on, and it still has an open sort of "very low tom" type sound. did i tune wrong or maybe it's relevant to question #1.

i have a feeling it has something to do w/ my reso head being an ambassador as well.

any help's appreciated. thanks.

1) the 2 rings are different ammount of dampening. one will cover more of the drum heads surface, thus cutting more vibration

2) the reso head is gonna sustain the sound out more, but controlled. i have my bass like this now with an EMAD2....sounds great for the low quality of the drum :thumb:

Two ply heads generally sound like crap on kick drums- go with a regular EMAD or better yet, a PS3.

Well I've never had any good experiences with two ply heads in general, they just take away a drum's natural tone, but especially on bass drums. Try listening to a kick mostly unmuffled for a while and then try and go back to a dead sound.

I have 8 kick drums at my house and six different head combos. It just really depends on the sound and the feel you like/want/have to have. Like Mr. Spock said "Kack'n sprittle nos gobble spink."

^ Aye. Depends on the drum, the room, the beater, the foot..

i have nothing in my kick drum...all i have is the very slightly muffled eq3.

I generally hate 2 ply heads as well, usually I have coated single ply batters and clear single ply resos on all my drums. However, just recently I decided to give coated G2s a try and I also got the EMAD2 on my bass drum and I am really happy with it. The tone is completely different from a 1 ply bass drum head, but I really like it for the music that I play.
