You know when you have those pads on a cymbal so you can tighten without metal on metal. I need many more and went to a local store and they didn't carry them, so I'm looking online. What would they be called? And anyone know where I can find them? I have seen them in packs before.

i prefer the 3 felt method myself.

i use 1 felt on the bottom, and 2 on the top (using the 3/4" felts from gibraltar)

I just use however many felts I need so that, when I tighten the wingnut all the way, the cymbal is as loose as I want it to be.

Really keeps your mind at ease about the nuts tightening on their own (everything used to do this on me and it pissed me off >_<).

Of course, it does mean you have to brutalize your felts every now and then. You wouldn't believe how many half-felts I have lying around.

Same here.
Don't want my chinas flopping around a ton.

Tightening by itself eh? Mine loosen by themselves =/

Totally, and I love the Tama plastic rounded lugs for Wuhan china's too.

the majority of my cymbal arms are gibraltar, so i have a plastic base washer with a very thick plastic tube to cover the threads. same idea in practice, but with a wingnut. i know it sucks for Wuhan users...but i dont really have that problem :p

I use Lars Ulrich Signature Series Ahead metal felts for all my cymbals.

There are signature felts? Seriously?

wow...just wow...

Because it's so amazing that someone wouldn't get the point slapping a signature on a 2 inch piece of felt.

Yes.
It is.
And it's even more amazing that you would believe it.

I'm more worried about the fact that you believed felts made of METAL actually existed not that there was a signature series. I mean usually felts are made out of, well, felt.

I usually use 2 felts for my cymbals, except my Wuhan. I use 1 felt on the bottom and a big felt on top. For my Wuhan, I use 1 felt on bottom and like, 4 inside the bell.

Like every drummer here I use two felts on top of my chinas, and one below.
I don't use felts on crashes though. Just sleeves.

BummerJonny
03-22-2008, 05:17 AM
thats retarded....

Aaron
03-22-2008, 05:40 AM
How? Have you ever investigated it? Or are you just trawling the net looking for something to make a degrading comment about?

BummerJonny
03-22-2008, 05:42 AM
no, its just common sense. not using felts is retarded. no control over sustain / cymbal tightness, kills the ring.

as a drummer, its just retarded to not use felts. im sure 99% of people on here would agree....

Aaron

Heard of the concept of free movement? Means your cymbals play how they're meant to. Matter is another user on here who does the same, and Mr Pink IIRC, also has discussed it's merits.

Retarded Chipple
03-22-2008, 05:53 AM
Not really. I've tried not using a top felt on crashes before but the swung around too much for me.

I'm quite sure Austin doesn't use top felts or Ronnie from The Killers....

It's not really "retarded" to not use felts tbh.

EDIT: To Jonny

We_Love_Lime

I used to not use top felts, because I thought it was jazzy and cool.
Then I was moving my cymbal stand around, and sort of wish I had something to keep the cymbals on <_<

BummerJonny
03-22-2008, 07:00 AM
im not saying you have to have top felts, maybe i should have made that clearer.

but to not have anything between the base of the sleeve and the cymbal...

:/

Aaron
03-22-2008, 07:15 AM
I use bottom felts. That's a given.

BummerJonny
