Ok guys. This is the first installment of "The Adventures Of Nick McMullen" (that's me btw) In this thread we will talk about my daily journeys and my thoughts on people and certain situations. I see alot of people, and deal with alot of people being a Cashier at walmart. So this is a thread dedicated to my thoughts. And how you would have handled them or thought otherwise(thanks serenity for this idea. Props go to him)
Ok, so.
I start my day out the same way everyday. I get up, go look in the mirror and let out a dissatisfied grunt, and then begin to brush my teeth. I then get in the shower and slip and almost fall nearly everyday. Then I get out, open my drawer to an entire cornucopia of Blue shirts and tan pants. I then head to work.
I open up my register everyday. And let a sigh of "oh no, and so it begins" as I flick my light.
The first customer is usually an old woman. With around literally 40-60 cans of cat food and random produce. I ask her how she's doing and she says, "oh just fine" and I proceed to scan her items. After the transaction is complete she stands there. Either with her check book or her random amounts of money trying to put it back into her purse as SLOWLY as possible. While I've already scanned all of the next persons items and the next person tries to get to the Credit Card machine. She finally puts it all away, then moves away slowly.
My second customer is usually a man. Middle aged, and just getting a few things. Such as razors, oil. You know, manly things. And tries to get out quick. Will make very little small talk, and uses a credit card. I ring up his items, tell him the total, and he tries and tries to push credit on the machine to find out the touch screen doesn't work on this particular unit. He finally picks up the plastic pen and jabs! the screen as if it were a dart board.
I always have these 2 customers as my firsts for the day. The old cat lady, and the regular Joe....
To be continued tomorrow.

And a good 90% of the posters here (me included) don't have the attention span to read a long post, so they will just post "tl;dr" or copypasta, which degenerates into crap.
I look forward to the next update.

I know I'm like that, but actually read it. Pretty good.
It just makes me appreciate that I don't have to put up with adults when I occasionally cashier.

Umm..
Now this is just an obersvation, but maybe you could spice it up a bit? It's not bad reading, but anyone who has been to your average retail vallue store can write that. Why should I read your blog when I can just walk downstairs to the Duane Reade and be that average joe, or be the guy behind the old lady.
I mean, it's common and is in no way worthy of you having a blog of your own.
So either you commit to making it better, or tell me it won't get better so I won't click into it anymore.

Ok guys, heres the second installment of my mini series.
Throughout my day I see many many people. So many different faces, so many different bodies. So many different races. And after seeing all these countless people, you begin to learn that stereotypes are real. All of them. And here are some examples.
Octogenarians: VERY picky, pay with EXACT change, or entirely in change. Usually buy alot of produce/depends and are polite in most cases.
African Americans: Usually come in groups. Buy lots of random unnecessary things. Lots of candy and chips. Are very irritable, very picky and very annoying. 6/10 people buying food pay with food stamps. Usually on the phone.
Mexicans/Hispanic: Wow, they buy strictly latino food. Not surprising seeing they are very very traditional people. Pay in 100 dollar bills. NEVER! Contest a price. EVER. Get ALOT of produce, and usually come with 2-3 cart fulls.
The other groups of people are very small and useless to list.
And last but not least, Caucasians: They are mellow. Friendly in most cases. Get alot of soda and macaroni and cheese. Usually have a spoiled kid with them. Buy lots and lots of toothpaste. Erm, not much else to say about them.
But I'll let you in on my peeves.
Yeah, so I HATE being on express lanes. Today, a woman had the nerve to come to my register with 69 items! At first I saw a few things, then she handed me about 30 greeting cards and plates. I was like, wtf! Then was really picky about how everything was. "Put this in this bag, don't mix these." God how I wanted to shove my pen into her temple. And the mindless people who will come up and get 1 item and say, "Oh, yea....this was supposed to be 2.99 not 2.67." Dude, it's like........30 cents. Chill out. I had a woman who flipped on me because I rang up an onion for .49 cents. "That was supposed to be 38 cents! It says it on a big sign RIGHT THERE! Do you want me to direct you to it? Because obviously you are blind!" I want so much to powerbomb her through a refrigerator. And then. There was a woman today who bought a pack of Ice Breakers cubes, and I began to make small talk about the Ice Breakers packs being mistaken for Cocaine. And she said, "oh well I don't want these then." I said, "but......these are cubes...not packs" and she said, "I want to be refunded for these." I just said, "Um, ma'am. I haven't sold them yet" and she just sucked her teeth and walked away. These people piss me off.........
To be continued.

Thanks yo. Didn't think of that.
lol at the stereotypes, they seriously are true from the experiences I've had.
Blacks especially are the only ones I see who buy candy where I work, and they are the only damn people who have attitude and are impatient (you know the 100% blacks, not the ones who are a percentage white, they're friendly for the most part)

I know the pain of a contested charge of couch-change proportions.
I rang up $5.33 on video. She asked what the $.33 was, I told her it was a late fee. She flipped out and completely went super-saiyan and was like "I DON'T HAVE A LATE FEE!" I'm like. "...It's only $.33...". She still went crazy and stormed off citing, "I'm not renting those movies.". "...ok." so I voided the transaction. I look over to my co-worker and divy out my change in my pocket and he does as well. We laugh at the situation continue to make references to it.

Yeah bro. People just need reasons to flip out and vent. Doesn't mean they should take it out on us. I hate when someone comes up and asks "how much is this?" like I know all the prices of the 48032754832758 items in walmart

Yea guys, so.
Yesterday was tough. After not showing up at all on Wednesday I thought I was done for. So I was on my register and I got a note. "Go see David (store manager) on your break or lunch." So I thought, "fuk" and I got there and he said, "So I hear you were interested in electronics?" and I said, "uh, yea?" then he told me to sign these papers and told me it would be effective immediately. I am now an Electronics Associate :)
