yah i dont make em either, my uncle from texas does it the hardcore way, picks some ears of corn, grinds the corn into cornmeal himself, uses the husks for the 'wrappers' (i guess thats what you call it) then cooks up the meat an veggies and shi himself and stuffs them fools and then cooks em real good.

then a lil homemade salsa and he makes some mean pork carnitas too.

needless to say i thoroughly enjoy my family get togethers

I like Tex-Mex but mostly I find it no better then slop. I dunno that we have any slamming Tex-Mex restaraunts here, but there are quite a few "authentic" Mexican restaraunts but they don't do Tex-Mex. I like Chipotle, and there is a decent Tex-Mex place near where I live but I don't go there too often. My daughter hates Tex-Mex and all my wife ever orders are fajitas.

My local restaurant has a similar burrito called the California Super Burrito. Rice, Cheese, steak, beans, and lettuce inside, chili con carne and qeuso dip on top.

it really is. that one comes from a place called Manuel's by the locals, El Tepeyac by everyone else. same owner for decades, family owned place, mexican food, mexican american style. which means lots of refried beans, hard shell tacos, cheese. none of that southwest stuff or seafood. just good junk.

that burrito has the chile con carne or verde (pork) or chicken, beans, rice, guac, cheese on request, and thats about it. its hella' good. and they also have a version that is about three or four times that size. feeds more then one, of course. and if you can eat one on your own its free. next to impossible in one sitting, however.

and the owner still walks around and gives shots of tequila out of a plastic cup. especially on Sundays. although he doesn't sell alcohol because of the catholic church across the street.
