I'm thinking really hard about getting a Mac here pretty soon, more specifically this iMac G5

I plan on getting Pro Tools (not quite sure which version yet) and eventually Logic 8 Studio. The computer lacks a little bit as far as RAM goes, but that can easily be upgraded and I don't plan on doing any big projects right away.

Right now I plan on using it mostly for editing (Tools) and writing/arranging (Logic 8) but using it for recording purposes eventually is likely.

So my first question is, it's going to be running Leopard OS. I really don't have any experience with Leopard, so how well has it been working thus far? Any compatibility issue's with software or weird bugs that I need to know about.

So yeah, just your thoughts on Leopard and this computer in general.

Leopard runs almost identically to Tiger. I haven't used it for any recording purposes yet, but my girlfriend just got a macbook that came with leopard. It is a bit buggy still I've noticed. Things like changing preferences is some stock programs (little useless ones like the Chess program and crap like that) will cause them to stop working completely. Little bugs like this should be worked out by Apple fairly soon though, I can only assume. I'm thinking you probably won't have many problems int he way of compatibility, as it is still the same base OS X system.

I have a Macbook with Leopard and I don't have any problems with it. Also I do all my recording on it now using Garageband 08' which the computer comes with. I don't know anything about the imac g5 and the link didn't work but I am sure that it is great.

Oh, well I ended up buying the iMac. I got the 2.0ghz Intel Dual Core model. It only has 1gig of RAM at the moment, but once I get some money I'll upgrade that.

So far it's working well (except for destroying an external harddrive of mine ). I don't have any recording software on it yet, but I plan on getting Logic 8 soon.

That set up should work well for running Logic once you upgrade the RAM. I used the older iMac (still with the flat screen and what not) to run Logic 7 when I was going to school. Good computers. I myself got a Mac Pro, simply for the ability to upgrade it to whatever I want.
