How can I do a crash swell sound in Fruityloops (at least I think it's a crash... I don't know much about drums, honestly).
I don't know if that is the actual name of the technique, but it's when a drummer hits the crash(?) a bunch of times, each time increasing the strength so as to swell up the volume. Listen to the song "Slave New World" by Sepultura to see what I'm talking about. It's the first thing that the drummer does.
(you can hear the song at http://www.seeqpod.com/ if you don't have it... it's a great site btw!)

You're best bet is probably finding a cymbal swell loop somewhere and using that. I searched thefreesoundproject and found this one: http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/samplesViewSingle.php?id=39663
And there is very possibly better ones on that site.
Beyond that, I suppose you could put in a slew of crash notes and set each ones volume higher. Maybe if you make multiple tracks and alternate them you will get that layered effect, but I don't know. (FL studio doesn't continue to play a sample when it hits another sample on the same track, while in a swell cymbals continue to ring while being hit more)

Cool, I didn't think about looking for a sample like that. I tried your other idea, but it didn't work well. Thanks though, I'm going to use a sample from that site!
