There are obviously a lot of people on here interested in improving their singing/screaming, so I thought I would put together some recommendations of good vocal programs to get for people to use as a reference.

The Rock N Roll Singers Survival Manual
By Mark Baxter
http://www.voicelesson.com/html/store/index.htm

This was the first book I ever read on vocal technique, and is still one of my favorites to this day. The book is filled with exercises for breathing, increasing range, increasing vocal strength and power, and many other things. It also has long sections on performing live, vocal health, fitness for singers, and other things every singer needs to read up on.

Good for:
Singers of any genre. It has a lot of information in it regarding vocal health, the psychology behind singing, vocal anatomy, and everything else you'll need to know. The only flaw would be that there is no CD included, but each exercise has a pretty good description along with it, and explains exactly what your doing it for

Sing Like An Idol
By Mark Baxter
http://www.voicelesson.com/html/store/index.htm

Sing Like An Idol is by far my favorite vocal training program available. Its an hour long CD produced by vocal coach to the stars Mark Baxter, covering everything from warm ups to style to developing power. I use this CD often to keep my voice in shape. It contains many songs that are useful to sing along with to develop the different things you work on in the exercises, as well as lots of useful advice, all packed into one CD.

Good for:
This one works for any genre too, but its definitely geared towards pop/r&b vocalists.

Singing Success
By Brett Manning
http://www.1shoppingcart.com/app/?af=728816

This is considered the most complete vocal training method available today. It features 12 CDs, a DVD, and a small workbook. The CDs begin by building up your technique. Once you have completed the technique lessons, you move onto style. This program covers styles such as pop, R&B, blues, and country. The last few CDs are all for song application; applying what you've learned to songs.

Good for:

Its good for any genre, because it builds your technique up step by step. This is the best alternative to lessons if you absolutely cant get a private coach, but you might be disappointed with the style section if your wanting to learn to scream.

The Zen of Screaming 1 & 2
By Melissa Cross
http://www.melissacross.com

Video 1 will teach you basic techniques, and get a little bit into screaming. Video 2 has a few exercises for screaming, but you learn the most from just listening to the advice and listening to the screamers interviewed/shown during a lesson. If everyone was to actually apply what is taught in these videos, they would be able to scream well and with good technique.

Good for:
Rock/Metal singers and screamers.

Raise Your Voice: 2nd Edition
By Jaime Vendera
http://www.raiseyourvoicebook.com

This 460 page book features Jaime's Isolation Method, one of the best voice strengthening programs out there. When you buy this book, you also receive over 70 audio files to go with the book, as well as a lifetime membership to the Members area of his site which features hours of video lessons, interviews, and scales.

Good for:
Any genre, but especially rock/metal.

I don't have enough time for write ups on everything, but those are by far my favorites. Here are other ones that I would recommend. If you've tried a program that works well for you, post it. This is all about helping people out who can't work with a coach privately. I'll add to it from time to time.
