Ok, so clear this up for me (this is some very basic stuff) and just confirm if these statements are true

Each stae is divided into counties, which is rules by whom?

Each state is run by a governor, which is a regionalcoutnerpart to president (but with much lesser power)

Each state is represetned in the senate by state senators, but what's congress for, and what is the purpose of state congressmen?

How is power divided between congress and the senate?

The county is run by the local government, no one person is really in charge (to my limited knowledge)

More or less

The Senate is part of Congress, as is the House of Representatives. Senate allots two senators per state so every state is equal. In the House representatives are given in proportion to state population giving equal voice to the people (in theory). Senate combined acts as one of three branches of the federal government (the otehrs being executive and judicial).

the senate and the house of reps are both legislative bodies who both have to pass a bill for it to go to the president. that's the most basic i can give it.

my home county is run by a 3 person board of commissioners they're elected to 4 year terms

my current county is run by a mayor but that's because the county and the city are the same thing

Congressmen are pigs eating money for their state.

Each State (except Louisiana, who I believe uses Parishes) is made up of counties. Counties don't have a set way they are run, but rather vary.
States are organized generally in mimicry of the Federal Government, with a Executive Office, Two House Legislative Branch, and a Judiciary, although this is my no means mandated to be the format (I'm not sure if there are any Unicamercal state Legislatures...)

Each state is represetned in the senate by state senators, but what's congress for, and what is the purpose of state congressmen?
A State Senator or State Congressman actually would be someone serving in the State Legislature, rather then the Federal government.

How is power divided between congress and the senate?
Congress is a Bicameral Legislative Body who is responsible for enacting the laws of the Federal Government (This being a Federation, State Governments can make their own laws that actually flout Federal laws to a degree... Except for drugs, the Feds don't give a **** then...)
The Upper House is the Senate and the Lower House is called the House of Representatives. Senate has two from each state, while the House is by population (Thus Maine has two, while California has like... 50 or so). Very boiled down, the House is supposed to be the voice of the people, while the Senate is the voice of reason (Originally, Senators were appointed as seen fit by the State Legislature, which fit this role, but now that they too are elected, this isn't as true. They still are expected to be less swayed by popular opinion though, and go by what they feel is best).
Seeing as your location is "Vikingaland" I assume u are somewhere in Scandinavia, which I don't know too much about as far as the government structure goes, so I can't draw comparisons for you, but if you know much about British Parliament, the House is like Commons, and the Senate is like Lords, although the House has more people then the Senate, and the Senate actually has real power, unlike the Lords, which are kind of useless.

Cheers mates, that cleared up uite a bit. I was wondering, well, apart from general interest, iw as watching Charlie Wilsons war the otehr day, and I was curious as to the actual finctions and hierachial (sp?) position of a congressman or lower house member
