My band has begun recording, but we are having a problem with the drum sound; the snare is too loud. It overpowers the rest of the kit on the overheads and the room mic, but it isn't a problem on the others.
We've tried a couple of different things, including dampening, but it takes a severe amount of it to make any difference, and this makes the snare much more difficult to play, not to mention sound like crap.
We were going to attempt the use of a peak limiter on the mics in question. Any advice on that? (We're a bit new to recording)
If anyone has any suggestions on this matter, they would be immensely appreciated. Thanks.
