They toured here the other night and I was fortunate enough to be drum teching for the support band, Vanishing Point.

Because I was technically working, I couldnt get too many photos, but got a few of the setup earlier in the day. Enjoy.

For those wondering, the suport band used my Sonor Force 3007 do play this gig and it CANED. These kits are easily good enough for these kinds of concerts.

Nicko's set is one of the coolest I have ever seen.

I just got a Maiden album this Christmas, really starting to get into these guys.

when did maiden go all egyptian?

It's the theme behind the Powerslave album.

They're touring songs from their earlier albums now, I went to France to see them play stuff from their first 4 albums, and I'll damn well go to Twickenham to go see this, too.

Looks like an intense show, and it's awesome that you got to work for the support band!

EDIT: Loving the egyptian'd-up Sooty :D

how did vanish point get the support gig?
The promoter for the show rang their manager asking if there were any bands that would suit as a support act.

Networking is the key yet again!

im not digging the kit sizes, but the stage/wrap is god-like. i wouldn't mind seeing em live, but i could never get in in to them. something about historically accurate songs...

There goes the siren that warns of the air raid
Then comes the sound of the guns sending flak
Out for the scramble weve got to get airborne
Got to get up for the coming attack.

Jump in the cockpit and start up the engines
Remove all the wheelblocks theres no time to waste
Gathering speed as we head down the runway
Gotta get airborne before its too late.

And whats wrong with their songs subject matter?

listening to a guy sing about (esp so detailed) about flying a plane in to combat isnt my cup of tea. maybe if i got past that one thing they would be a decent band. im not calling them a bad band, musically their really good, i just cant get past the lyrics.

Heard Number of the Beast on the radio. Classic Rock radio no doubt, which surprised me as I've never heard Maiden on there.

That's awesome. I love the lettering of the Paiste logos.

I want to see Iron Maiden sooo bad but they never come anywhere remotely near me :upset:. I went through a phase a few years ago where I was utterly obsessed with them, and even though my music taste has gone in a different direction now they'll still be one of my favourite bands forever.

Aye!! :D

Did you make your own way there or did you get the disastrous line of transport that left London in the middle of the morning?

That journey was ridiculous. All in all we had 2/3 broken down buses, the ferry wouldn't start or something, the bus completely gave out on the way back and everyone had to make their own way back from Dover... There was a gas leak on one of the buses...

BUT, we got there in time for DT and got to get RIGHT to the front 'cause my tickets were booked through the fan club :D

I saw them at Ozzfest '05, and though I love the band, the drum setup absolutely kills me. You can't see him at all through the huge toms, and the angles just look painful.

Otherwise it's a nice set.

I have always said maiden is brilliant! Steve Harris is a musical genius. They are the perfect live band. When they have it going...they have it going.

I have basically destroyed my Iron Maiden: Rock in Rio dvd, its amazing!

Those are some awesome pictures. Nicko has such a unique and colorful set-up. I could stare at his kit all day.

Iron Maiden as a whole is an awesome band as well. They pretty much got me into Metal music years ago when I heard Number of the Beast for the first time, so they will always be one of my favorite bands.

I'd give anything to see them on their Powerslave tour :[

Thats the beauty of living overseas. Seeing Iron Maiden 70 times in two years! haha

One of the main things I like about them is that you can tell they are having fun onstage. They have a long career and they are enjoying it.

Running around on stage, smiling, talking. They do not have to pretend to be angry, I am gonna kill you, type of look to them. You know like alot of bands today.
